SNL star Davidson will be headlining a comedy series titled “Bupkis,” inspired by his life. The comedian will co-create the series alongside collaborator and friend Sirus and Judah Miller (Crashing). Sirus co-wrote “The King of Staten Island” alongside Davidson.

The comedy series will apparently have the 28-year-old play himself, and “SNL” creator Michaels will be in charge of production. Deals for the show are currently in the final stage with Micheals’ Broadway Video and Universal Television.

The comedy series is described as “a raw, unflinching, fictionalized version of Pete Davidson’s real life. It will include a mixture of grounded storytelling with absurd elements depicting an unfiltered view through Pete’s eyes.”

“Bupkis” was compared to the HBO series “Curb Your Enthusiasm” by Larry David. It will apparently show the 28-year-old’s real-life persona alongside an R-rated unfiltered storytelling. The series is currently being pitched to streaming platforms. As of now, Prime Video and Peacock are reportedly the most interested.

The series is currently in the process of gathering A-list talents around Davidson. The comedian is among the executive producers alongside Sirus, Miller, Micheals, Erin David and Andrew Singer.

Davidson’s attempt at an autobiography film started with his 2020 comedy-drama, “The King of Staten Island.” The actor wrote the film with Sirus and Judd Apatow. It was based loosely on the “SNL” star’s life and had him as the main character. The show received critical acclaim and rated a 75% on Rotten Tomatoes when it was released.

The “Suicide Squad” actor joined the cast of “SNL” in 2014 when he was just 20 years old. This dubbed him one of the youngest cast members in the show’s history alongside Robert Downey Jr. The Marvel actor joined the cast in 1985 when he was also 20 years old.

Davidson is currently on his eighth season with the show and is one of the most recognizable stars. He initially started by making irregular appearances during the “Weekend Update.”

Besides his blooming comedy career, Davidson is also planting his feet more firmly in the acting sector of the industry. Davidson has gone on several hiatuses to accommodate his acting career and is currently on one.

Micheals recently started giving leaves of absence to established “SNL” members with other projects to handle like TV series and films. Other “SNL” cast beside Davidson, who went on leave, include Cecile Strong, Aidy Bryant, and Kate McKinnon.

Fans speculated that the comedian might have finally left the show. However, per Variety, the actor is still a part of the cast.

The news outlet revealed that Davidson took a leave from the show to focus on his newest project, “The Home.” The film is a Miramar horror movie with James DeMonaco as the director. Davidson posted some behind-the-scenes clips of the film on his Instagram account.

Davidson’s role in the movie is a troubled worker named Max. Max apparently works in a retirement home and manages to uncover some horrifying secrets the facility had.
