Racist Joy Partners With McAuliffe to Hurl VILE Smears Against Anti-CRT Parents

On Wednesday night, MSNBC’s ReidOutJoy Reid is the host continued her emotional breakdown over Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin’s prospects of victory, tag-teaming with Youngkin opponent and former Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) to insist Youngkin’s side has peddled “[t]he critical race theory bogeyman” Any type of “American history” That “doesn’t completely absolve white people…of anything bad.”

And, for his part, McAuliffe showed desperation by playing to the worst of Reid’s viewers, spewing venom about Virginians who desire having a say in what their children learn in school.

Reid was right at the c block and lamented it. “as early voting is in full swing,” “[t]he critical race theory bogeyman”It has “play[ed] a critical role as the Trump-endorsed Youngkin vows to protect Virginia’s youth from a law school curriculum that’s not taught in Virginia public schools or any public schools in the country.”

Reid created a hideous strawman that Youngkin and his voter would oppose. “anything factual about American history that involves white people from the past not being awesome to try and win back the suburban vote to win elections” With “[o]ne of the fake CRT battlegrounds” being Loudoun County.

Joy Reid was not able to comment on the possibility. RefusalLoudoun County Public Schools Leadership to Protect Young Girls from Sexual Assault was Fake

After playing a clip from Showtime’s The Circus of former MSNBC host Alex Wagner speaking with “a leading Republican suburban mommy activist,” Reid invoked the classic progressive move of denouncing opposition as inauthentic, fretting to McAuliffe that there’s a “game…being played across the country” It consists of “Republican activists” And “some pretty big foundations.”

Her insalubrious act went one step further, declaring that parents should be concerned about education. “are pushing this idea that teaching about…American history, if it doesn’t completely absolve white people from the distant past of anything bad, if it doesn’t portray them as nothing but heroic, it’s harming children and that sounds bananas except that now Youngkin is almost tied with you in the polls.”

McAuliffe agreed, falsely claiming CRT doesn’t exist in schools and accused parents of engaging in “a made up, racist dog whistle”Youngkin on behavior “sickens me” along with wanting to ban abortion (which isn’t true).

At the same time, he said he’s someone who “unite[s] people” and “bring[s] [them] together.”

Proving she doesn’t have the bandwidth (or desire to) possess an intelligent thought besides her talking points, Reid doubled down on the race-baiting and her cartoonish hatred for white people and Republicans (click “expand”):

REID: So, as you can see, Trump said, hooray! But, there is one thing that he does. [sic]He can create enthusiasm in his base, as you probably know. Do you have an equivalent enthusiasm among your base because are black Virginians, brown Virginians, Asian Americans, your base, younger people, as enthusiastic —

MCAULIFFE: Yes.

REID: — as the Trump base is about, you know, finally —

MCAULIFFE: Yes.

REID: — creating a, you know, Andrew Jackson is the greatest hero of all time curriculum in schools? You know what? Are they just as passionate?

MCAULIFFE, Yes. They’re.

REID: And how do you know that —

MCAULIFFE: 800,000 —

REID: — okay.

MCAULIFFE: — well, 800,000 people have already early voted. Every record we have ever broken in Virginia is being broken. It will be the largest turnout of any non-presidential election. [sic] year.

How else do we know Reid didn’t have any more room to compute substance? She allowed McAuliffe to ramble until she had to go to break (click “expand”):

[Y]oung people — they don’t want a governor who is against gay marriage. You know, I was very proud — I’m the first governor to perform a gay marriage after the Supreme Court ruling. My brick wall was me. I maintained 16 clinics for women open. All the NARAL and Planned Parenthood awards were given to me. We don’t want a governor who’s going to ban abortions, who’s against gay marriage, who doesn’t believe humans contribute to climate change[.]

[Glenn Youngkin’s]He has all of Trump’s staff working for him. All he does is recited — he said the other day we should audit Virginia’s voting machines. He’s dangerous. This is dangerous for Virginia… I can assure you Joy that none of these businesses will remain in the state. Joy cannot be hired to any state where Glenn Youngkin, who discriminates and puts up walls against gays and women, is governor.

JOY REID : Terry McAuliffe is also joining me for a major test for Democrats. It’s a close race for Virginia governor on Tuesday.

(….)

Eastern, 7:30 pm [TEASE]

REID: It’s down to the wire. In the highly-contested race to be Virginia’s governor, early voting has begun. Terry McAuliffe, the Democratic candidate for governor in Virginia joins me to discuss his race and what education has become for him and his opponent. We will be back.

(….)

Eastern, 7:33 PM

REID: Voting is underway in Virginia’s hotly contested governor’s race. The contestants are Republican Glenn Youngkin, and Terry McAuliffe (ex-Democratic Governor). The critical race theory bogeyman plays a critical role as the Trump-endorsed Youngkin vows to protect Virginia’s youth from a law school curriculum that’s not taught in Virginia public schools or any public schools in the country. Toni Morrison books and any other factual information about American history which involves white people of the past is not a good reason to try to win the suburban vote. One of the fake CRT battlegrounds is in Loudoun County, the richest county in Virginia where our friend and colleague Alex Wagner from Showtime’s The Circus interviewed a leading Republican suburban mommy activist who’s fighting the state’s equity and inclusion curriculum.

PATTI HIDALGO MENERS [on Showtime’s The Circus, 10/24/21]:  In Loudoun County, this is the wealthiest county in the country. It isn’t rife. [SCREEN WIPE]Are you more concerned about their color or how they dress, what they see, and how much they treat others? If you have a kid that’s pulled over by a cop, does it really matter what color they are or is it the respect they give to that police officer?

[SCREEN WIPE]

ALEX WAGNER [on Showtime’s The Circus, 10/24/21]Glenn Youngkin, your man?

MENDERS [on Showtime’s The Circus, 10/24/21]: This racism narrative is not something he wants to promote. He is determined to provide a quality education for all children.

WAGNER [on Showtime’s The Circus, 10/24/21]:  Education has become the flash point across the country.

MENDERS [on Showtime’s The Circus, 10/24/21]: Why do you think so?

WAGNER [on Showtime’s The Circus, 10/24/21]Yes. Please tell me.

MENDERS [on Showtime’s The Circus, 10/24/21]: We don’t play with our children.

REID: Joining me now — woooo — is Terry McAuliffe, Democratic candidate for governor of Virginia. I — I — sorry, I just want to let you —

TERRY MAULIFFE: It’s hard to see.

REID: — it’s a lot. This game is being played across the country where Republican activists —

MCAULIFFE, It Is.

REID: — backed by some pretty big foundations, are pushing this idea that teaching about history — American history, if it doesn’t completely absolve white people from the distant past of anything bad, if it doesn’t portray them as nothing but heroic, it’s harming children. This sounds crazy except for the fact that Youngkin has almost tied you in polls. This is working in partnership with Virginians. Are you worried that — that sort of white grievance politics is going to be hard for you to overcome?

MCAULIFFE, Joy! We’re going win this race. We’re already ahead. 800,000. People have voted. Our records are falling apart. I think people are waking up to say, “my goodness.” And, as you mentioned correctly, we don’t teach critical race theory. Virginia has never taught it. It’s a racist, made-up dog whistle that Glenn Youngkin used since day one. This sickens my heart. His goal is to get parents fighting their parents and teachers fighting each other. In a political campaign, he is using children to be his political pawns. In education, my record-breaking investment was made as governor. I’ve got a big plan to take Virginia to the next level on education. His plan — literally 43,000 teachers would be cut, so he can’t talk about real issues, the nuts and bolts of education because his plan’s horrible. Independent studies show that teachers would be reduced. He wants the Trump/Betsy DeVos system to be brought to Virginia. That’s not what we want. But — but — think what he did two days ago. The closing ad of his campaign. He doesn’t want to talk about health care, education or job creation. It’s about banning books that were written by the Nobel Prize-winning African-American author, Preeminent African American Author. And that’s his closing ad. This is a powerful thought. To ban a woman, Toni Morrison’s Beloved book, which is a true story, that’s his closing ad. But he opened his campaign — and for eight months, all he had, Joy, was election integrity. He had that website as his only resource. He is now a Trumper. He’s been endorsed seven times. Trump today announced that he will be coming to Virginia. Hallelujah, let’s get him in here. On Friday, Steve Bannon will be holding a rally. It’s a mere dog whistle [sic]When the dog whistles. Dividing it — I try to unite people. Governor, I have been very successful. Record-breaking job creation. Record investments in education. It is my goal to bring people together. I got a couple dozen Republicans who’ve endorsed me. What’s the reason? People come together because I am a uniter. I’m a uniter. Glenn Youngkin can be a divider. But what has happened in the last couple days — he’s against a woman’s right to choose. He said last week he’s not for gay marriage — really — in 2021.

REID: You are right.

MCAULIFFE – He stated last week that climate change is not caused by humans. Is that really true? This is the problem we are dealing with.

REID: Okay, well, I heard you say hooray. But you also know that Trump is coming in. However, there’s one thing he does. [sic]You know that he can instill enthusiasm within his base.

[sic] year. But listen, young people — they don’t want a governor who is against gay marriage. You know, I was very proud — I’m the first governor to perform a gay marriage after the Supreme Court ruling. My brick wall was me. I maintained 16 clinics for women open. As you know, all of the NARAL/Planned Parenthood Awards were presented to me. We don’t want a governor who’s going to ban abortions, who’s against gay marriage, who doesn’t believe humans contribute to climate change and that’s the issue. Our people are excited, but Joy also knows that I have restored more voting rights in America than any other governor. You may recall that I was sued and taken before the Supreme Court. But you don’t know what? There’s 277,000 people can [sic]Virginians who couldn’t vote eight years back can now vote. My governorship was remembered for my willingness to lend a hand, lift others up, give them second chances and correct the mistakes of the past. Glenn Youngkin is thrown out of his private equity company and decides to run as governor. Running for governor is no consolation prize. He has no knowledge of the state government. All of Trump’s people are working for him. All he does is recited — he said the other day we should audit Virginia’s voting machines. He’s dangerous. Virginia should be wary of him. We’ve made great progress. The last time I did it, I made 200,000. The personal income increased by 14 percent. Joy of these companies will not be able to stay or get recruited into states with Glenn Youngkin as their governor. He discriminates against homosexuals and women, and creates walls around them.

REID (Reporter): It will be interesting to see. This all comes to a head on Saturday, so we — we will definitely be keeping an eye on it. Terry McAuliffe: Thank you so much. I am so grateful to you for being there tonight.

MCAULIFFE, Joy:

REID: Cheers.
