Reebok has breathed new life into a community basketball court in the west end of Toronto through a bright, colourful, and significant revamp.

The brand partnered with the City of Toronto’s Parks, Forestry and Recreation team to identify a local community court in need of repair. MacGregor Playground’s court, near Lansdowne Ave. and College St., was carefully selected to receive the major refurbishment after  extensive research with Ward 9 City Councillor Ana Bailão’s office. Through an in-kind donation by Reebok, the renovation was made with the aim of providing equitable access to physical activity for all, especially underserved youth.

“Having access to sports and recreational facilities is an important part of any child’s life. This partnership with Reebok Canada is a good example of the work the City is doing with companies, organizations, and other governments to make important investments in enhancing and maintaining our recreation facilities,” said Mayor John Tory. “I want to thank Reebok Canada for investing in our city and for refurbishing the basketball court for the neighbourhood to enjoy. I look forward to seeing kids enjoying this new and improved  court and embracing basketball in our city.”

With an abundance of public basketball courts across Canada in need of improvements, Reebok also recently teamed up with Foot Locker Toronto to support local artist Adam “The Illustrator” Bosley and his Nothin’ But Net initiative, with an inspiring summer-long goal of replacing the netting on 200 basketball courts nationally. While 50 of these nets have been sent to schools Canada-wide, as part of Reebok Canada’s BOKS (Build Our Kids’ Success), Bosley installed 150 nets by hand in the GTA over the course of the summer.

Wrapping up the Nothin’ But Net program, Bosley installed the final two nets on the new and improved MacGregor Playground court, which is surprisingly his home court—a meaningful full circle moment.

The enhanced MacGregor Playground court is now open to the public.
