Robert Kennedy Jr.’s Trespasser Charged Facing Up To A Year Behind Bars

After a man attempted to break into Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Cheryl Hines’s Los Angeles home earlier this year, he has officially been charged with three criminal charges.

According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, the trespasser, whose name we have decided not to disclose, was charged with “Disobeying Court Order,” “Intent to Annoy or Harass With Repeat Calls/Contact,” and “Trespass: Injury to Property/Obstruct Business.”

This comes after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was granted a five-year restraining order against the same man after he attempted to break into RFK Jr. and Cheryl Hines‘s home in October.

As you may know, earlier this year, police responded to a burglary call to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Cheryl Hines’s Brentwood property. Per our previous report, the man, who has now been charged with three criminal offenses, was attempting to break into RFK Jr.’s home. At the time of the incident, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s security team was home and was able to subdue the man until the cops arrived. He was then arrested.

Cheryl Hynes, who has been married to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. since 2014, was also home at the time of the incident, but luckily she was unharmed. She is the one who noticed the man in her yard.

This was not the only time the man trespassed and attempted to break in as law enforcement was then called back to the home the next morning around 1:30 a.m. He was, once again, arrested — this time for violating a court order.

As for the jail time, the man faces up to six months in county jail for each misdemeanor charge. The third one, connected to the annoying calls, carries a max of 180 days behind bars.

Per a five-year restraining order granted to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the man has been ordered to stay away from the entire Kennedy family. Per the restraining order, there is not to be any contact, either directly or indirectly, in any way. This includes “in person, by telephone, in writing, by public or private mail, by interoffice mail, by email, by text message, by fax, or by other electronic means,” per the docs, obtained by The Blast.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s new restraining order also states that the man cannot own, possess, buy, or try to buy firearms, guns, firearm parts, or ammunition.

Earlier this week, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. qualified for his first ballot for the 2024 election. He met the 1,000-signature threshold on Thursday and is now on the presidential ballot in Utah, Salt Lake County’s voter services manager Ron Buckley confirmed with CBS.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign press secretary, Stefanie Spear, told the news station, “We will be announcing January 3 our ballot access status in Utah at a press event in Salt Lake City.”

The requirements for ballot access for individual candidates — a.k.a. those who are not in the Democratic or Republican parties — vary from state to state.
