Rome Flynn Confirms ‘Chicago Fire’ Exit After 6 Episodes

Chicago Fire is a firefighter down as Rome Flynn, who portrayed Derrick Gibson in the NBC drama, is leaving after six episodes.

“Curtain call chicago fire,” Flynn shared on Instagram.

Deadline reported Friday that the March 27th episode was Flynn’s final episode in the procedural. In the most recent episode, Flynn’s Gibson has a breakdown and tells Miranda Rae Mayo’s Stella that he needs to leave to enter treatment after having withdrawals from prescription drugs.

Flynn’s departure follows Kara Killmer’s exit, with her final episode portraying Sylvie Brett airing on Feb. 28. Killmer’s character leaves after marrying Jesse Spencer’s Matt Casey as the couple start a new life in Portland, Oregon.

The Chicago Fire Season 12 premiere also saw Alberto Rosende leave the show with his character Gallo, who only appeared in the first episode and moved to Michigan to be with his family.

Although the NBC procedural has seen several exits, the show has also added some new faces. Jocelyn Hudon joined the cast in a recurring role.

NBC recently renewed all three One Chicago series—Chicago MedChicago Fire and Chicago P.D.—for the 2024-25 season. Med was renewed for Season 10, Fire for Season 13 and P.D. for Season 12. All three shows are produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment.
