Amy Hennig of Skydance revealed Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra at the Epic Games event at the Game Developers Conference.

The game trailer shows a lot of realistic imagery with amazing human face animations with cinematic scenes. They make you feel like you’re in a movie, said Hennig, onstage at the State of Unreal event with Epic Games CTO Kim Libreri.

Hennig showed off cool imagery like a searchlight shining on snow in a wintery war setting in the game, using Epic’s Nanite Tesselation technology. She also showed effects like smoke and fire coming out of a barrel.

Captain America’s suit fits like a glove and it has so much detail that it looks like a real piece of clothing on a human character. Black Panther and Captain America square off on a bridge in one of the scenes with amazing visual details. Hennig said it means it can honor the characters and faithfully reflect their performances in amazing detail.

Hennig and Libreri talked about some of the various technical tricks that Skydance is achieving with the Unreal Engine.

The trailer opens with Captain America and Black Panther fighting Nazis in WWII. The facial imagery, built with Unreal MetaHuman technology, is great. The motion of parkour-like actions is fluid, and Captain America’s suit looks pretty real. The searchlights in many of the scenes add a lot of sophisticated lighting to each scene.
