Tia Mowry files for divorce from Cory Hardrict after 14 years of marriage

Tia Mowry is divorcing her husband of 14 years, Cory Hardrict.

The “Sister, Sister” actress, 44, announced their split in a Tuesday Instagram post

“I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different. I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways,” she captioned a throwback black-and-white photo of the pair.

“These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children,” she continued.

“I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives.”

According to court docs obtained by TMZ, Mowry filed in Los Angeles earlier in the day, citing irreconcilable differences.

Mowry reportedly didn’t specify a date of separation but is asking a judge for joint physical and legal custody of the exes’ two children, 11-year-old son Cree and 4-year-old daughter Cairo.

Per TMZ, the mother of two notes in her filing that she and Hardrict, 42, have a prenup in place.

Perhaps referencing the split, Mowry posted a cryptic message to her Instagram Story on Tuesday.

“Letting go won’t be painful,” the quote read. “But, it won’t hurt as much as holding on to an illusion.”

Mowry and Hardrict met as undergrads at Los Angeles’ Pepperdine University before tying the knot in 2008.

“My husband and I, we were friends for a whole year before we decided to start dating,” Mowry said during a 2013 interview with Ebony, recounting the early days of their relationship.

The Disney Channel alum also explained that she and the “American Sniper” actor “waited for a while” to be intimate with each other.

“This works for some people and it doesn’t work for some people and it’s OK,” she elaborated. “Know and learn and understand what baggage can you handle and what can you not handle.”

Discussing relationships in general, Mowry stressed the importance of asserting her independence.

“I think you should focus on not having the relationship define who you are or a man to define who you are. So if you’re careful and cautious about that going into a relationship, I think it’s going to be a healthy relationship. And I think at the end of the day, it starts with you,” she told Ebony.

“It starts with looking within and loving who you are, knowing who you are first, knowing who you are as a person. And then once you are solid within that — and [Hardrict and I are] constantly learning — but once you have some foundation of who you are as a person, you’re not looking for anything or any man to solidify you at all.”
