Will Smith Enjoys ‘Divine Splendor’ While Staying Lowkey, According To ‘King Richard’ Co-stars

Will Smith has no time for drama!

Three months after the renowned entertainer sparked outrage for slapping Chris Rock onstage at the 2022 Oscars, the actor received another Best Actor award for his role as Richard Williams in “King Richard.”

As shared by ET, the 53-year-old bagged the trophy at this year’s BET Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, where his on-screen daughters updated fans about the Philadelphia native’s condition.

When it comes to celebrating black excellence in the entertainment industry, the BET Awards have honored the best entertainers each year regardless of their personal dilemmas.

For his outstanding performance in “King Richard,” the prestigious organization honored Smith with the Best Actor award, however, the actor’s victory was not as dramatic as the Oscars.

The “Focus” star did not make an appearance at the BET Awards as the 53-year-old has avoided the spotlight like a plague following the controversial event.

Although the “Will” author has been media silent, the Hollywood sensation stays in touch with his loved ones, including his on-screen family from “King Richard.”

Mikayla Bartholomew and Saniyya Sidney, who star as Tunde Price and Venus Williams in the biopic, stopped to tell the news outlet about their on-screen father.

Looking dashing in an all-blue ensemble consisting of a smartly tailored wrap-style crop top and trousers, Bartholomew opened up about her usual conversations with Smith.

“Every time I talk to him, he always says everything is in divine splendor, ya know, so he’s good,” she revealed. “It’s always good to chat with him.”

On the other hand, Sidney, who showed off her toned legs in a short sleeveless dress designed with blue swirly patterns, was proud of how much “King Richard” had accomplished.

The emotional biopic which catapulted the young actresses to fame also won the BET Award for Best Movie and Sidney could not help but praise the icons behind the biopic.

“Our film was very special to us,” the actress gushed, “and Venus and Serena [Williams] changed so many women’s lives, our lives.”

“King Richard” truly changed the entertainers’ lives in more ways than one as this year’s awards ceremony marked the first time Bartholomew and Sidney attended the star-studded event.

Regarding this stellar achievement, Bartholomew expressed how honored she was to be part of the prestigious event that honored the Black culture, a ceremony she joyfully applauded and compared to a family cookout.

Alas, this family celebration was incomplete as the star of the day was nowhere in sight. Nonetheless, the “Bad Boys” actor deserved to pop a few bottles of champagne as his BET Award did not come easy.

The Blast previously reported that the Golden Globe Award honoree was up against celebrated stars in the Best Actor category such as Denzel Washington, Damson Idris, Anthony Anderson, Jabari Banks, and more.

Not only did Smith beat these men for the award, “King Richard” took home the Best Movie trophy against fan-favorite films like “Candyman,” “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” “Summer of Soul,” “The Harder They Fall,” and “Respect.”

Aunjanue Ellis also earned a nomination in the Best Actress category for her role as Oracene Price, the mother of the Grand-Slam Sisters Serena and Venus Williams in “King Richard.”

However, the award went to Zendaya for her roles in “Euphoria” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” defeating icons like Queen Latifa, Regina King, Mary J. Blige, and Jennifer Hudson.

The ‘Aladdin’ Star Is Gearing Up For His Next Movie After Healing From The Oscars

In wake of his infamous behavior at the Oscars, The Blast revealed that the BAFTA Award winner was spotted in India for an alleged healing session.

Many social media users believed the “Suicide Squad” actor went to visit his spiritual guru for advice as one fan claimed the Philadelphia native previously practiced Hinduism.

While no one knows the truth behind Smith’s trip to India, the 53-year-old must have gotten the relief he needed as sources stated the entertainer would star in the “I Am Legend” sequel.

The father-of-three would reportedly reprise his role as Robert Neville in the thriller, while the film would be produced by his production company, Westbrook Media.
