Paulina Porizkova Reaches ‘Very Fair’ Settlement With Ex-Husband Ric Ocasek’s Estate

Paulina Porizkova seems to have finally gotten what she deserves from her late ex-husband’s estate!

The renowned supermodel opened up about reaching a settlement and ending the legal dispute with Ric Ocasek’s estate during a recent appearance on Los Angeles Magazine’s podcast, “The Originals.”

Porizkova, who was divorced from The Cars singer shortly before his demise, revealed during the podcast that she had settled with the estate but didn’t get into the details of the exact amount she received. She, however, said:

I am gonna be fine. I am gonna be fine. … I settled last week. There you go. … I settled last week with the estate. They were very fair. They gave me what is mine under New York state law, and we’re done.

The 56-year-old addressed the claims that Ocasek had a net worth of just $5 million at the time of his passing, calling it “bulls**t.”

She explained to host Andrew Goldman that she believed the amount was put down because of tax purposes to make sure it didn’t look like her ex-husband was hiding a considerable sum of money away from her.

Porizkova shared that she made sure to receive what was owed to her under the new York State law, and now she is done and dusted with the legal battle.

Porizkova’s Financial Plight

The “Her Alibi” actress was married to the singer for almost three decades before their divorce in 2019. However, before the divorce proceedings were completed, the lead singer passed away unexpectedly.

The Cars lead vocalist was found dead in his apartment in New York by Porizkova, and it was later discovered that he died from heart disease.

While the model was still mourning her ex-husband, she was dealt another blow when she discovered that Ocasek had exempted her and their two sons, Jonathan and Oliver, from his will.

The mother-of-two described the incident as a “betrayal” and opened up about how she felt conflicted at the time of his demise. She said, “It’s made the grieving process really, really tricky because I would love to just be able to be sad and miss him, and not also feel this incredible hurt at his betrayal.”

Ever since, the model has been an advocate of financial intelligence among women, speaking up on social media about her plight and encouraging other women to opt for a prenuptial agreement before getting into a marriage.
