Dolly Parton has revealed the secret behind her long-lasting marriage to Carl Thomas Dean!
The country music goddess has every right to be dishing out relationship advice as she has been blissfully married for over 50 years.
As for what keeps her romance burning fiercely, the 76-year-old got candid about her secret weapon on a recent episode of E! News’ Daily Pop show.
Dolly Parton Reveals What Keeps Her Marriage “Spicy”
On Wednesday, January 26, the “Joyful Noise” actress told the news outlet that she gave her husband special treatment by always glamming up at home.
The “Here I Am” singer explained that she enjoyed dressing up for Dean because the whole world got to see her fashionable side, so why shouldn’t her husband.
Although the blonde’s longtime partner has probably seen his wife without flawless makeup and glamorous clothes, the country star believed it was essential to look great for her man. In her words:
“Nobody wants to make out with a slouch! It’s important to me that I look as good as I can. I think it kind of helps keep things spicy.”
Dean also seemed to have a taste for his wife’s fiery treats as the “9 to 5” artist revealed that her spouse couldn’t get enough of the 76-year-old’s famous “Playboy” magazine cover.
Given his love for the sexy bunny outfit, the 11-time Grammy winner recreated the steamy look in honor of Dean’s 79th birthday in July 2021. The “Run, Rose, Run” author said:
“I thought, ‘Well, I’ll just go surprise my husband and just cook breakfast for him in my bunny suit.’ He got a kick out of it, and evidently a few other people did, too!”
However, these spicy moments didn’t imply that the lovebirds were always in a blissful state as the couple had experienced their fair share of lows.
The Country Music Hall of Fame inductee jokingly claimed she wanted “Jolene” to steal her husband away every time she saw Dean “snoring in his La-Z-Boy chair.”
This was a reference to her 1974 hit song, “Jolene,” which detailed a story about a woman who tried to steal Parton’s lover.
The chart-topper confirmed that this emotional track was based on a real person, but her former rival no longer posed a threat to her marriage. The “Coat of many colors” author said:
“I can’t say her real name. I saw her a few years back and she was broad as a barn, so I didn’t feel so threatened anymore after seeing her. I thought, ‘There’s my revenge!’ “
As previously shared by The Blast, the icon met the man of her dreams after traveling to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue her musical ambitions.
Following their fairytale meeting at a laundromat, the pair dated for two years before realizing they couldn’t live without each other and tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on May 30, 1966.
From that moment till date, the couple has kept their longtime connection alive by supporting each other and keeping their relationship fun with pranks.

Last year, The Blast reported that the “I Will Always Love You” singer revealed that she lived two separate lives regarding her profession and marriage.

According to the country star, she fell for her husband’s good looks as well as his “fun and witty” side when she was 18-years-old and instinctively knew he would be the love of her life.
One of the things that made the “Rockin’ Years” singer’s marriage blossom over the years was that Parton separated her personal life from her music career.
The multi-instrumentalist explained that Dean supported her profession from the background and gave her the space required to focus on her job.
