Rapper Lil Marlo was shot and killed in Atlanta over the weekend, law enforcement confirmed Sunday to TMZ.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office told Page Six on Sunday that the body of a Rudolph Johnson — Marlo’s real name — had been brought in. He was 30 years old.
On Saturday evening, authorities responded to a call that initially “came in as a car accident on Interstate 285 in downtown Atlanta,” police told TMZ. Upon arriving at the scene, cops saw that Marlo had been shot, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to TMZ.
“At this time, investigators believe the victim was the intended target of the gunfire and they are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting,” a police official told the outlet.
He is believed to have been shot while driving.
On Sunday, fellow rapper Lil Yachty paid tribute to Marlo, posting to Instagram: “We just did a song a 4 this morning smh rip brother @lilmarlo_1.”
Marlo has been part of the Quality Control label since 2017.
