Simon Harris and wife welcome arrival of new baby boy

The minister posted a photo of himself and his newborn son online.


Further and Higher Education Minister Simon Harris and his wife Caoimhe have welcomed a new baby boy to their family.

The minister took to Instagram to post a photo of himself and his newborn son Cillian.

Along with the image, there was the caption: "Today we welcomed Baby Cillian into the world. Caoimhe and baby doing great and Saoirse delighted to be a big sister and looking forward to meeting him soon.


"Thanks so much to all the staff in Holles Street. I will now take paternity leave for a few weeks to get to know this new little man."

The minister previously said that while he is on paternity leave, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar will be taking any of his department’s business to government.

Meanwhile, Minister of State Niall Collins will be carrying out his day-to-day work in the department with Labour leader Alan Kelly providing a pair for Dáil votes.
