TV Host Known for 2008 Super Bowl Proposal to Tom Brady Accused of Embezzling Almost $150 Million

A TV personality most known in American pop culture for a 2008 Super Bowl proposal has been accused of embezzling millions of dollars.

People reported this week that Mexican TV personality Inés Gómez Mont and her husband, a lawyer by the name of Víctor Manuel Álvarez Puga, are alleged to have embezzled nearly 3 billion pesos (or roughly $146 million) from the Ministry of the Interior in 2016 and 2017.

Regional media, including TVNotas, reported earlier this month that a judge had issued an arrest warrant, to which the couple is alleged to have responded by leaving the country. The Mexican Attorney General’s Office has since asked Interpol to issue red notices, which would potentially assist in locating them.
