Bringing a child to term is no easy task, as it entails months of uncontrollable sickness, fluctuating cravings, physical pains, and other challenges, all of which are topped off by labor contractions.

After dealing with all these challenges throughout pregnancy, some women find it difficult to regain their pre-pregnancy mood. They experience a frantic condition called postpartum depression, which can be life-threatening.

Recently, American singer-songwriter, Maren Morris, described life after giving birth to her first kid, disclosing that she too suffered from PPD, which she discovered with the aid of her husband, Ryan Hurd.

The “My Church” crooner recently opened up that her husband, fellow singer-songwriter Ryan Hurd, assisted in the diagnosis of her postpartum depression after the birth of their son Hayes Andrew two years ago.

“I do check-ins all the time [with] therapy, which I’ve done for years, and my husband was a huge help diagnosing that too,” Morris, 31, disclosed in a recent interview with People. “Sometimes it’s just someone really close to you saying, ‘Are you OK?’ It’s so simple, but it kind of snaps you out of whatever fog you’re in that you think is normal, but isn’t.”

Morris noted that the PPD era was difficult for her because of her continuously fluctuating emotions, but that it eased up when Hayes was six months old and that she hoped she would never have to go through it again.

Morris has totally recovered from her PPD episode, but she has not forgotten about it. Now, more than ever, the singer is paying attention to her mental health and doing everything she can to avoid returning to that terrible place because of the pandemic outbreak.

“I’m pretty sure everyone in lockdown, and this pandemic has had to do a temperature check on their mental health, and maybe it’ll become a more perpetual practice going forward because of these two years — I hope it is,” the singer said.

Morris then claimed that she believes there is less of a shame involved with discussing mental health and its treatment, claiming that more women are sharing their personal experiences.

Morris got married to her partner in 2018. Since then, the couple has lived in marital bliss and share a mutual admiration for each other talents.

“I’m very proud of her. Maren is an incredible mother and partner, and our quiet little life at home has just made it incredibly difficult to leave and go to work,” Hurd gushed in the interview. “I’m really thankful for our little home bubble.”

Hurd met Morris through a publisher acquaintance who wanted them to cooperate on several projects. They turned out to be a creative match, and their work relationship eventually blossomed into a love one.

Likewise, Morris revealed that she is grateful for her marriage to Hurd, saying, “I wouldn’t have made it through with my head this high without him.” Together they have written several songs, including some singles from Morris’ third major-label album, “Humble Quest.”

“He was my closest and best writing partner during the lockdown,” Morris said, further alluding to their personal and professional connection. “Writing songs with each other is fun, but it’s not the only thing that ties us together. It’s a bonus.”

“This was the most time we had ever spent with each other, and we had a kid, so we were getting to know each other in a deeper way,” she said while detailing their increased bond during the pandemic. “We definitely got stronger.”

Since its release, Morris’s new album is already making streaming rounds and features her hit track “Circles Around This Town.”
