The Bush Sisters Announce Their First Children's Book Together: 'It's All About Sisterhood'
Former first daughters Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush are celebrating their sisterhood — this time, with a children’s book.
On Tuesday, Jenna revealed the cover of their new book during her hosting duties on the Today show. “It’s called Sisters First like our other book, but it’s a children’s book,” said Jenna on the show, referencing the siblings' 2017 memoir about coming of age in the White House.
“And it’s all about sisterhood, whether it’s blood sisters like Barbara and me or friends or colleagues like y’all,” she continued. “ can make your life better than you ever thought possible and make you do things that make you feel braver than you ever thought.”
The 37-year-old twin daughters of former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush — and granddaughters of former President George H.W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush — have made names for themselves beyond their famous political family. While Bush Hager is a correspondent on NBC’s Today, Pierce Bush is the CEO and co-founder of Global Health Corps.

According to the book’s description, Sisters First is a “lyrical” story about a girl who finally gets her wish when her baby sister is born.
Together, the sisters dance and play, quickly becoming inseparable. The cover features two little girls in a hot-air balloon who look very similar to Jenna’s daughters: Poppy Louise, 3, and Margaret “Mila” Laura, 5½.
“I adore both of my preciously different girls and, like my Mama, I hope to help them see their unique qualities as gifts,” Jenna wrote in a 2018 essay, according to Today.

“I want to help them to embrace their strengths and when it comes to their shortcomings, teach them to be easy on themselves,” she added.
The Bush sisters hope to teach this lesson — as well as the importance of sisterhood — to children everywhere with their new book.
“We’ve always felt lucky that we had each other to walk side-by-side as sisters through the extraordinary circumstances of our ordinary lives,” they told PEOPLE when announcing their memoir in March 2017.
Sisters First, the new children’s book from the Bush sisters, is out Oct. 8 on amazon.com and available for pre-order now.
