Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be in New York City later this month.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to attend Global Citizen Live at Central Park’s Great Lawn on Sept. 25 to discuss the importance of achieving global vaccine equity, Global Citizen announced Tuesday.
The couple will call for the G7 and EU to donate at least one billion COVID-19 vaccine doses immediately with those most in need.
Harry and Markle, who are based in California, have been advocating for COVID-19 vaccines since they became available.
The redheaded royal previously appeared at Global Citizen’s Vax Live concert in Los Angeles in May to discuss the jabs.
“The vaccine must be distributed to everyone everywhere,” he said at the time.
“We cannot rest or truly recover until there is fair distribution to every corner of the world,” he added. “The virus does not respect borders and access to the vaccine cannot be determined by geography.”
Since staging their sensational Megxit, Harry, 37, and Markle, 40, have focused on philanthropy and even made Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list this year.
“They turn compassion into boots on the ground through their Archewell Foundation. They give voice to the voiceless through media production,” chef José Andrés wrote in a short essay about the pair. “Hand in hand with nonprofit partners, they take risks to help communities in need — offering mental-health support to black women and girls in the US and feeding those affected by natural disasters in India and the Caribbean.”
Andrés added that the pair “run toward the struggle” to help those most in need.
