David Foster Talks Successful Show And Being A Dad Again At 72

Multiple Grammy Awards winner David Foster has been known for his mastermind behind-the-scene works that produced numerous significant hits in the music industry.

As a music producer and songwriter, he has worked discreetly with several renowned musicians such as Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, etc.

Foster gradually quit hiding behind the curtains and is now in the spotlight with his show, “An Intimate Evening with David Foster,” where he shares his success story and talks about being a dad.

In a report by PEOPLE, Foster talked about his sold-out show “An Intimate Evening with David Foster” that was set to take place at Wynn Las Vegas’ Encore Theater.

It was quite a big deal for the 72-year-old as his show sold out on January 21, when several famous artists had to cancel their shows because of the pandemic.

He said he didn’t know how he obtained the place; however, he was glad to have found a working niche. Foster is also set to have more shows later in April.

Coming to the spotlight didn’t just happen overnight for the star as he went on in detail about his experience. He revealed that he trained himself to be a great host after years of hosting philanthropic events. Foster added:

“Getting up on stage without having to sell a hard ticket, quote-unquote was really a great way for me to learn how to perform and entertain.”

The Canadian native became more publicly known through competitions like “American Idol” and other reality TV series.

As the Vegas show went on, his wife, Katherine McPhee, joined him on stage. The couple married in 2019, which brought lots of gossips as McPhee is 35 years younger, but the loving husband wasn’t bothered.

He believed that age difference wasn’t one of the things that could collapse a marriage, and they both have it good together.

McPhee’s appearance on stage got booming applause, and Foster was amazed at the response. He admitted that he loved it and loved having her with him.

The duo now has the time to make appearances together as their son, Rennie, is 11 months old, so the nursing mother can get fully back to work.

Being a dad to five adult daughters and a grandad to seven grandkids didn’t stop the new father from gushing over how great it was to be a dad again.

The music executive has more time on his hands but still loves his other children as much as his baby boy, who seemed to have inherited his parents’ music talent.

The Music Producer Had A Friendly History With McPhee Before Marriage

According to a report by Insider, Foster first met his wife during the fifth season of “American Idol” in 2006. She was a contestant who performed Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.”

At the end of the show’s season, McPhee got the runner-up position, and in the following years, she was spotted with the producer on several public occasions.

After her achievement at “American Idol,” she released her single, a cover of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” which Foster produced.

Later in 2008, the talented singer got married to Nick Cokas, and during the ceremony, she performed a song with the Canadian’s backup at the piano.

Even after Foster and McPhee divorced their spouses, they remained best friends and still appeared at events together.

Speculations about their romance came about in May 2017 when they were seen intimately having dinner together in Miami.

In September that same year, one of Foster’s daughters fueled the rumors by calling McPhee her new stepmom. But a source revealed that the pair weren’t in a romantic relationship.

The couple finally made their relationship official in 2018 at the Met Gala. They got engaged in July of that year while vacationing in Europe, and in 2019 they tied the knot in London.

The Canadian Music Executive Gets Criticized For Sensitive Caption

As The Blast previously reported, Foster received a lot of bashing on social media for his “what baby!” caption under an Instagram post of McPhee in a black bikini.

The statement merely served as a compliment for regaining her normal size after the birth of their son. Fans saw the caption disapprovingly, and she defended him accordingly.

The loving wife has had weight issues since her 20s, and she admitted to not caring if she gained the weight back. She later called out those who criticized her husband’s caption.

McPhee wasn’t too concerned about people’s opinions regarding her body as she continued to flaunt her hotness in various teasing bikini photos.
