Said channel led the way during a period when U.S.-based channels needed at least 72 million weekly views to crack our American ranking. The chart, and some analysis of it, is below.

Chart Toppers

Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes has returned to its most-common position in our U.S. Top 50. The California-based animator earned the #1 spot in this chart after picking up 660.1 million weekly views. Though the kid-friendly hub isn’t close to reaching 200 million subscribers, like T-Series did this week, its 114.7 billion lifetime views are more than any other channel in our American ranking.

Like Nastya, which topped this chart in each of the previous two weeks, dropped back to second place in the U.S. The family vlog lost 14% of its viewership week-over-week, but it remains far ahead of every U.S.-based channel not named Cocomelon. In our latest count, Like Nastya had 511.5 million weekly views.

The highest-ranking YouTube Shorts channel in this week’s U.S. Top 50 is SMOL. The micro-video destination, whose library of clips features many families, snagged 337.3 million weekly views at the start of December.

Some creators combine short-form and long-form videos to sate all YouTube appetites. LankyBox is one channel that utilizes that approach, and its combination of formats generated 327.9 million weekly views over our latest seven-day measurement period. The gaming and entertainment channel, hosted by two guys named Justin and Adam, finished fourth in our most-recent U.S. Top 50.

Vlad and Niki rounds out our up-to-date edition of the U.S. Top 50. The family vlog, which is based in Florida, notched 310.9 million weekly views, though it did fall two spots after placing third in this chart a week ago.

Top Gainers

Thanks to the emergent Shorts platform, TikTok stars have a path to popularity on YouTube. In some cases, short-form videomakers who port their content over to YouTube get an opportunity to revive their old channels.

Peet Montzingo launched his YouTube channel in 2014, but the hub didn’t really take off until this year, when Montzingo started using it to share his vertical videos. The frequent co-star of Montzingo’s comedy is his mother, whom he annoys by using his trombone to add sound effects to everyday situations. Montzingo’s mom has dwarfism, and through his prankish videos, Peet raises awareness about a condition that is often misunderstood.

Montzingo’s YouTube channel is currently on the come-up. At the start of December, the creator picked up 135.1 million weekly views, which placed him 17th in our U.S. Top 50. For the Seattle-based star, that seven-day total was more than double what he pulled in on YouTube a week ago, and with it, he added onto his already-impressive growth. He recently surpassed one billion lifetime YouTube views, and at this rate, two billion isn’t far away.

Channel Distribution

This week, there are 28 YouTube Shorts channels in the U.S. Top 50.
