Two dead following car crash in Cork

Two men have died following a car crash in Cork in the early hours of this morning.


Gardaí are currently at the scene of a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 5:30am on Monday, 3 August, 2020, on the Kenmare Road near Glengarriff, County Cork.


According to a statement issued by An Garda Síochána, one man in his 40s and another man in his late teens were pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. Another man has been airlifted from the scene to Cork University Hospital, where his injuries are described as "serious." A fourth occupant of the vehicle was uninjured, according to Gardaí.


There was only one vehicle involved in the incident.


Forensic Collision Investigators have been called upon to investigate the scene, and the road is currently closed with local diversions in place.


Gardaí at Bantry are now appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time to make this footage available to Gardaí.
