Gypsy Rose Blanchard: Life After Prison

As The Blast previously reported, Gypsy Rose Blanchard rose to fame after she was released from prison on parole. Her story has gained significant attention due to her troubling past.

Gypsy's mom, Dee Dee Blanchard, is believed to have had Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a psychological disorder where the caretaker of a child, most often a mother, either makes up fake symptoms or causes real symptoms to make it look like the child is sick.

In this case, Dee Dee used Gypsy as a poster child and convinced many people, including doctors, that she suffered from a variety of severe illnesses. Some of the things Dee Dee claimed Gypsy had included leukemia, sleep apnea, and muscular dystrophy, leading her to use a wheelchair and requiring constant care.

Gypsy eventually realized that was not actually sick and felt the only way out was to get rid of her mom. She and her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, conspired to murder her mother. The plan was carried out in June 2015.

She served her time behind bars and is now out on parole, trying to adjust to everyday life.

A few weeks ago, Gypsy decided to replace her silver teeth with new white porcelain caps. She also got a nose job, telling PEOPLE, "I’m going through a personal transformation journey currently and that includes a physical one, too. Wish me luck with my surgery and watch the whole thing this summer on 'Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up,'" which will air on Lifetime in June.

Ahead of the surgery, one of Gypsy's friends told the outlet, "The main thing is that she wanted a more feminine-looking nose. She just wants to fix it up and give it a more feminine look."

It's clear Gypsy is finding herself again and is becoming more confident after her troubling childhood.
