Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are now officially single and ready to mingle after a judge signed off on their divorce “status.”
The famous former couple’s lawyers faced off in an L.A. County Courtroom this morning, hashing out an agreement that will allow the parties to become legally divorced, even though they haven’t completely settled their financial and custody issues.
Kim Kardashian joined the hearing via zoom, and Kanye’s new lawyer Samantha Spector appeared on his behalf. On the docket was a “bifurcation” of the couple’s marital status which will legally make them divorced. We broke the story, Kim improperly attempted to get the status changed and was forced to change the paperwork at today’s hearing to make it official. In the end, Kim K. conceded to give Kanye the necessary legal protections of indemnification in order to terminate their marriage.
Interestingly, Kim joined the hearing from inside what looks like a closet, with tons of ‘SKIMS’ products behind her!
As we reported, Kanye broke his silence on the situation in the hours leading up to the hearing, saying he just wanted what’s best for his children. During the hearing, the judge signed off on the ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star returning her name to “Kim Kardashian” and dropping the “West.”
“I’ve asked my team to expedite the dissolution of my marriage to Kim so I can put my entire attention into our beautiful children,” Kanye said.
Unfortunately, the custody, in this case, might take a bit longer to settle on. Kanye is accusing Kim of keeping him from his children, and claiming she is forcing him to take drug tests to see the kids.
“America saw you try to kidnap my daughter on her birthday by not providing the address. You put security on me inside of the house to play with my son then accused me of stealing I had to take a drug test after Chicago’s party cause you accused me of being on drugs,” he wrote on Instagram.
