Whitney Port Opens Up On How She’s Coping After Announcing Miscarriage

Just a few days after Whitney Port suffered a miscarriage, the fashion designer revealed that she was handling the heartbreaking loss “one day at a time.”

Port is an American TV personality, a fashion designer, and an author. After being cast in an MTV reality TV series called “The Hills,” she rose to prominence. Port is married to Tim Rosenman, and the couple has a 4-year-old son called Sonny Sanford.

Before the miscarriage, the fashion designer was skeptical because she had suffered two miscarriages and a chemical pregnancy in the past. She released the sad news just days ago via her podcast With Whit and in the caption of an Instagram post. Then days later, she posted a selfie on Instagram with the caption that said she was dealing with her loss a day at a time.

Port Said She is Getting Through The Loss A Day At A Time

On Saturday, the reality television star posted a make-up-free mirror selfie on Instagram. She was wearing a navy sweatshirt and denim jeans, and the post’s caption documented how her day went. “One day at a time,” she wrote.

Port revealed that she and her husband had lost their baby on Wednesday, just two weeks after she shared the happy news of the pregnancy to the public. In her November 3 YouTube update, she revealed that her doctor monitored her because of her history.

Port Was Open About The Uncertainty Of Her Pregnancy

Before her miscarriage, Port went on YouTube to talk about her pregnancy. In the emotional video, the reality TV star shared that their doctor wasn’t very optimistic about the pregnancy but was hopeful because he found “an embryo and a heartbeat.”

“I’m currently 7 weeks pregnant, which is supposed to be obviously really exciting, and it has been up until yesterday,” she explained. “I have been going to the doctor and monitoring it, because of my history of miscarriages. I’ve had two miscarriages and a chemical pregnancy. And everything was looking good up until yesterday.”

Port mentioned that the uncertainty of the pregnancy was a huge part of their lives because “it affects everything, physically and mentally and everything that we do.” She said she wouldn’t be quiet about the pregnancy even though she knew that most couples wait till after the first trimester reveal a pregnancy.

‘Touch And Go’

In an interview with People, the 36-year-old said it was hard for her to accept congratulations at this point because she was “still so early in the game.” Port described the situation as “touch and go” because she was still in the first trimester.

“Everything is still touch and go week by week as women know when they’re going through pregnancy.”

Port continued. “The first trimester, really anything can happen. But things seem to be moving along and progressing so we’re staying hopeful.” One can only imagine the anxiety that the mother of one was facing at that moment. Before the miscarriage, the couple asked their fans to “keep your fingers crossed” for them on their journey.

This Is Port’s Third Miscarriage

This isn’t the first time Port has had to go through this. Sadly the 36-year-old suffered a miscarriage in July 2019 and another in January 2021.

During her With Whit podcast in 2019, Port told the listeners what she and her husband went through. She posted a preview clip of the episode on Instagram and captioned it, “This is really hard for me to write; two weeks ago, I had a miscarriage.”

She continued, “The amount of various emotions I felt in the past couple weeks have been extreme … from shock to sadness to relief, which then led to guilt for feeling that relief.” Port concluded by inviting anyone who had experienced such loss to comment on the post and see her comment section as an open place.

When Port miscarried early this year, she shared the news via Instagram. The couple had just started their YouTube channel by then. The channel was used to document the two major milestones in their lives; the pregnancy and the renovation of their house.

“Last time, I don’t think I was ready to have another child, and I had different feelings about the miscarriage. This time, I really connected. I was actually excited and enjoying the pregnancy. I envisioned it all,” part of her Instagram post read.
