She's a professional dancer.
Ellen Page is a Candian actress from Canada who has won many awards — she has received the nominations for the Academy Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, BAFTA, and Golden Globe for the category of Best Actress and has won the Independent MTV Movie Award, Spirit Award, and Teen Choice Award for Best Actress Comedy. Recently she came out publicly with a heartfelt speech about being gay and now is madly in love with a professional dancer. Who is Emma Portner?
1. She's a Dancer
Emma Portner is originally from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She started dancing at age 3 at Leeming DanceWorks in Ottowa. She spent her summers growing up with The National Ballet of Canada. She attended Canterbury High School in Ottowa to take advantage of their specialized arts program in dance. At 18, she moved to New York City to train at The Ailey School.
2. Celebrate Pride
The couple started out with a bang for Pride month with a photoshoot of topless photos on Instagram. After coming out and being madly in love with one another the two couldn't wait to share their love with the world. Page is encouraged to be herself even in Hollywood now that it is more accepted than when she was younger.
3. I Do
I Do was the next step in this couple's relationship. It began after Ellen stumbled onto Portner's instagram and became mesmerized with her creativity. “I thought, damn, this girl is so talented and so cool,” Page said. “I knew right away we were both creative spirits.” Page slid into Portner's DMs after seeing one of her videos and the rest is history. They eloped in 2018, four years after Page came out publicly at a Human Rights Campaign Event.
4. Love Bugs
Love is definately in the air as Emma and Ellen open up about their relationship. The couple use every moment they have to show others the affection and unity they share. Hand holding, kissing and hugging openly is what it is all about. “I still feel like I’m just becoming able to be who I am and feel comfortable in my body. The difference I felt physically after coming out was just like… you’d have to feel it to believe it,” Page said.
5. Outspoken Advocate
Coming out was a chance for Ellen to use her experience to help other people struggling with their sexuality. Little did she know she would be making an impact by using her voice in the LGBTQ community. A touching statement Page made says: “I remember being in my early 20s and really believing it was impossible for me to come out. But, over time, with more representation, hearts and minds have changed. It doesn’t happen quickly enough and it hasn’t happened enough, particularly for the most marginalized in the community. But things have got better.”
