Alec Baldwin Gets Emotional On Instagram After ‘Rust’ Shooting Interview

Alec Baldwin is no longer the same carefree man he was before the shooting on the set of the movie ‘Rust’ and he’s okay with that. In fact, he’s okay with never doing a movie with guns ever again.

Baldwin may have been controlled and composed during his appearance with George Stephanopoulos for an exclusive interview on ABC, Hulu but his Instagram shows that he is rattled, and all the more human because of it.

The On-Set ‘Rust’ Shooting

It may have started out like any other day for Alec Baldwin. He was shooting for ‘Rust’ and doing a shot where his character is injured and under pressure, and has a gun in his hand, ready to shoot anyone who wants to take him down.

As Baldwin told ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos, he felt they were on to something. And the movie was making him fall in love with movie-making all over again. For the shot, Baldwin was holding an antique Colt .45 revolver that was “cold” meaning it was loaded with blanks or was empty. Baldwin also said that cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was telling him what to do, he only cocked the gun, and it went off. The so-called prop gun discharged a live bullet, killing Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.

Baldwin spoke with ABC, saying that he did everything by the book, even though some celebrities like George Clooney have said that he should never have pointed the gun at anyone before checking for it himself. But Baldwin says that it was not his responsibility, as an actor, to see what was loaded in the gun, and he also did not have enough expertise to figure it out.

Attorney Lisa Torraco, who is representing assistant director David Halls also confirmed that Halls has repeated what Baldwin told ABC. According to Halls, “Baldwin had his finger outside the trigger guard, parallel to the barrel”. This indicated that Baldwin never pulled the trigger.

Baldwin also stated that had he truly felt he was to blame, he may have ended up taking his own life. And he is very sorry for the incident, and feels someone is responsible but, as he told ABC, “it isn’t me.”

Alec Baldwin’s Instagram Speaks Of Struggle

Despite his brave face, Baldwin is struggling and his latest Instagram post speaks of it. He wrote a letter, nay, an ode to Hilaria Baldwin, his wife, saying, “No matter what happens to me. No matter what I suffer. If I win or lose, anything. Anything. No one can take away from me the joy and love you have given me, @hilariabaldwin“.

He continued to write about tough times and how the world is nothing but about hate. But then he ends on a positive note, still writing to Hilaria, “you have given me a reason to live. Our life with our family is all I care about. Nothing else. I owe that to you.”

There are plenty of supporting and loving fan messages to Baldwin, and one fan seemed to write the gist of it all, “Praying for you during this difficult time, you are not to blame at all.”
