Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus is ‘grateful’ after completing fifth round of chemo

Blink-182 frontman Mark Hoppus is feeling better — considering the circumstances.

“Today I’m grateful to not be going in for chemotherapy,” Hoppus, 49, tweeted Wednesday. “It’s been three weeks since my last treatment. Normally I’d be going in today. ‘Normally.’ Damn. Getting pumped full of poison every three weeks is my normal.”

He continued, “On the 29th I get scanned and will know if it worked.”

It’s a turnaround from a little over two weeks prior when Hoppus posted a picture of his hair regrowing after he lost it due to chemo to Instagram.

“This is what God sees when He looks down upon His work and despairs,” he wrote. “Cancer-ass head trying to grow back some hair … Feeling terrible this week but trying to stay positive and count my blessings.”

Hoppus was diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma this summer. He’s kept fans updated on his battle with the disease since, sharing in July that he “received the ‘best possible news’ after his initial rounds of chemotherapy.

“Scans indicate that the chemo is working!” he tweeted. “I still have months of treatment ahead, but it’s the best possible news.”

Hoppus’ bandmates Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge both came out with messages of support for Hoppus following his diagnosis.

“I will be with him every step of the way on stage and off and can’t wait for us to play together again soon,” Barker told E! News in a statement. DeLonge, who left the band in 2015, called his ex-bandmate “a super-human who is pushing through this difficult obstacle with a wide-open heart” on Twitter.
