Ed Sheeran And Sarah Michelle Gellar Teaming Up For New Collab?

Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar looks like she hasn’t aged a day since she stepped off the set of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

The Joss Whedon cult classic first debuted on March 10, 1997, and ran until 2003. Although it’s known as a cult classic in the United States, in the United Kingdom, it received a massive following.

That’s where it caught the attention of the “Shape Of You” singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. Ed Sheeran is apparently a huge ‘Buffy’ fan and it even inspired several of his songs!

Sheeran loves ‘Buffy’ so much that he even includes references to it in his work!

To make his song “Afire Love,” Sheeran sampled “Remembering Jenny,” composed by Christophe Beck, from the episode “Passion” (season 2, episode 17).

Turns out, the music video for “Bad Habits” was also inspired by the notorious vampire slayer. Sheeran revealed that the show was streamed almost daily on the BBC and he used to watch the show along with his mates.

It seems that Sarah Michelle Gellar was honored to have inspired his video because she even commented on it!

Will Sarah Michelle Gellar Be In Ed Sheeran’s Next Music Video?

Sarah Michelle Gellar actually responded to being labeled the inspiration behind the “Bad Habits” video.

In an Instagram exchange, Gellar wrote, “I interrupt my vacation to bring you some @teddysphotos – but next time instead of being inspired by, just put me in your video…please…thank you. #edsheeran.”

Sheeran immediately responded with, “If you’re serious we have to make that happen. Thank you so much for the video message too, I’m sure a huge fan. My song Afire Love samples remembering Jenny from season 2, proper fanboy over here x.”

Earlier in July, Sarah Michelle Gellar surprised Sheeran with a video message after he told the hosts of “The One Show” that he binged the entirety of the show during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown last year with wife Cherry Seaborn.

Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Buffy’s younger sister Dawn on the show, hopped into the Instagram exchange to say “But the real challenge is did he hate Dawn? @sarahmgellar … How do I audio audition for this?”

‘Say You’re Happy Now… Once More With Feeling’

The whole cast of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” has some serious vocal ability, and they proved it in the musical episode “Once More, With Feeling” (season 6, episode 7).

While fans would absolutely love to see Sheeran cover the soundtrack of the song, Gellar actually surprised her fans on Sunday afternoon when she posted a photo of her and Sheeran together.

In the caption, she teased “#jingleball with this guy.”

“Buffy” co-star Emma Caulfield, who played Anya on the show, commented with four fire emojis.

Last night, Ed Sheeran and stars like BTS, Lil Nas X, and Doja Cat kicked off the holiday season at the iHeartMedia’s annual Jingle Ball concert.

Sheeran performed “Shivers,” “Perfect,” “Shape of You,” “Bad Habits,” and performed his new holiday song “Merry Christmas,” which he wrote with Sir Elton John – for the first time.

Fans aren’t sure if the photo was teasing a possible collaboration in the near future, but they sure hope so!
