‘Evil’ Cast Members Share Their Scariest Moments From Season 3

CBS’ “Evil” has been delighting and terrifying fans for three seasons now. The show stars Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, and Aasif Mandvi.

The synopsis reads: “Skeptical psychologist Kristen Bouchard (Herbers) joins David Acosta (Colter), who is training to be a Catholic priest, and a blue-collar contractor named Ben (Mandvi) as they investigate the church’s backlog of unexplained mysteries, including supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and other extraordinary occurrences. Their job is to assess if there’s a logical explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work, examining the origins of evil along the dividing line between science and religion.”

The series was created by Robert and Michelle King and its third season is currently available to stream on Paramount+. In a recent conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the three stars revealed which were the most frightening scenes to film.

The Cast Of ‘Evil’ Reveals Season 3 Is About To Get A Whole Lot Scarier!

As of this writing, only two episodes of season 3 have been released so far. New episodes are released on the streaming service every Sunday. Although the cast didn’t want to reveal any spoilers, they did manage to tease some truly terrifying images.

Creators Robert and Michelle King had previously hinted that one episode in season 3 is going to focus on cults. Aasif Mandvi revealed that one scene in the episode is one of the scariest he’s had to film on the show so far.

“There’s one moment where Ben ends up covered in goat blood, walking through a field at night,” he explained. “There’s always a little bit of humor in our show, but it was also kind of terrifying to be alone, out in the middle of a field, covered in goat blood.”

Mike Colter had a much more terrifying recollection of what’s in store for season three. He teased one episode that has to do with self-mutilation, which, admittedly, might be triggering to some members of the audience.

“You read the description, and then we see it, and it’s going to be even worse once the CGI and VFX people get ahold of it. It’s going to be pretty nasty, I’m sure,” he said. “It’s a small part of the episode, but that reminds me of what really gets me scared.”

Katja Herbers Says Filming ‘Evil’ Is More Like Filming A Sitcom: ‘We Are Constantly Laughing’

Katja Herbers, the brave one of the bunch, said, “I don’t really get scared on the show. If you were to visit the set, you’d be like, ‘Wait, are these people making some kind of sitcom?’ We are constantly laughing, which is nice.” However, there is one scene in season 3 that made her cry.

Herbers wouldn’t say exactly what happened, but there’s a nightmare scene that really shook her up. Herbers wouldn’t say if it involved George or not, but she said “it was a horrifying image. I mean, it made Kristen cry. It made me cry. It was just horrifying. I still want to puke when I talk about it.”

Although the main three cast members are the most recognizable faces of the show, “Evil” wouldn’t have achieved its success without Michael Emerson, who plays the sociopathic Leland. He said he filmed “one of the creepiest scenes ever” for season three that involved some “unwilling house guests” in Leland’s home.

Considering how many creepy scenes Leland had last season, fans can’t wait to see what’s in store for them in season 3.

New episodes of “Evil” are available to stream every Sunday on Paramount+.
