Fred Savage doing ‘a lot of self-reflection’ after ‘Wonder Years’ firing

Fred Savage has been “doing a lot of self-reflection” since his ABC firing last week.

Sources close to the actor-turned-director — who was let go from ABC’s “The Wonder Years” reboot over allegations of misconduct — told Page Six he’s “committed to reflecting on any wrongdoing.”

“Fred has really taken this issue very seriously and is doing a lot of self-reflection about how he could and should have handled different circumstances better,” we’re told.

The source also said Savage, 45, “knows he can be an a–hole at times,” adding, “There are some unresolved issues that Fred wants to deal with.”

Despite everything, we’re told Savage has had “overwhelming support” from friends and colleagues on the “Wonder Years” production.

The father of three is also being “fully supported” at home by his wife, Jennifer Lynn Stone.

The exact allegations have yet to be publicized, although they are not sexual in nature. Reps for Savage declined to comment.

As a child star, Savage became a household name for his role in “The Princess Bride” and he went on to play the lead role, Kevin Arnold, in the original “Wonder Years” series between 1988 to 1993.

He began producing and directing television projects in the late ’90s, and has now become a go-to director in Hollywood, working on sitcoms from “Modern Family” to “Black-ish.”

He continues to act and appeared in shows including “Working,” “The Grinder” and “Friends From College.”

A 20th Television spokesperson confirmed that Savage had been fired from executive producing and directing “The Wonder Years” earlier this month.

“Recently, we were made aware of allegations of inappropriate conduct by Fred Savage, and as is policy, an investigation was launched,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

“Upon its completion, the decision was made to terminate his employment as an executive producer and director of ‘The Wonder Years.'” They declined to comment further.

People reported that industry insiders said Savage could be “quick to anger”.

However, the source who knows Savage told Page Six: “He genuinely wants to be empathetic and listen.”
