“The Blacklist” is on the verge of wrapping up.
While it is good news that the long-running crime drama series will return to viewers’ screens after a months-long hiatus, the bad news is that the upcoming tenth season will be it’s last. The season is set to debut on NBC on February 26 in the 2023 television premiere schedule.
For its last lap around the block, “The Blacklist” landed a new time slot, moving to Sundays after alternating between Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in other seasons.
Fans Get Ready To Bid “The Blacklist” Farewell After This Upcoming Season
“The Blacklist,” which began in September 2013, has won the hearts of many with its storyline that follows the wanted fugitive, Raymond “Red” Reddington, who mysteriously surrendered himself to the FBI, offering to help them capture dangerous criminals.
With his sole condition being to work only with the new profiler, Elizabeth Keen fulfilled, Red gets to work. Unfortunately, after a decade of entertaining global fans, the show’s executive producer, John Eisendrath, released a statement confirming the end of its run. In Eisendrath’s words:
“After 10 years, hundreds of Blacklist cases and more than 200 episodes produced, we’re honored to reach our conclusion. It’s been incredibly fun to create the strange, devious, and delightful Blacklisters to challenge Raymond Reddington and our FBI Task Force each week.”
MEGAThe showrunner appreciated “everyone at NBC and Sony” and the “extraordinary crew who make the impossible happen every day, our endlessly inventive writers and producers, and our remarkable cast who brought life to these characters.”
He also expressed gratitude to the “dedicated fanbase” that went along with the “wonderful ride and are excited to share this final season with them.” The Co-President of Sony Pictures Television Studios, Jason Clodfelter, chimed in:
“We thank our wonderful partners at NBC for a remarkable 10 seasons of ‘The Blacklist,’ the series that introduced the world to Raymond Reddington, brilliantly portrayed by James Spader.”
The “Don Thompson LGBT Film Festival” judge eulogized Spader for leading “a multi-talented and diverse cast that also featured legendary guest stars and hundreds of Blacklisters who made us all root for this anti-hero.”
He concluded by asking readers to tip their “Reddington hat” to “the dedicated production staff, hard-working crew and talented writers.” NBC additionally gave a peak at the final season of “The Blacklist,” which promised one “last ride” for Red.
Megan Boone Had A Memorable First Day On The Set Of ‘The Blacklist’
After gaining traction as a recurring star on the police procedural series, “Law & Order: LA,” Boone landed her roles as FBI agent Elizabeth Keen — the previously mentioned profiler on “The Blacklist.”
Although she played the role for only eight years, she left her mark on viewers and hurt them with the news of her retirement from the show. The Blast reported that the “Blue Bloods” alum allegedly had a pretty interesting first few days on the show.
MEGAFor example, on her first day, Boone had an unforgettable interaction with Spader, where she literally stabbed his neck. Recounting the scene during a 2021 interview, the 39-year-old said:
“It was my first scene shooting with James, and that was the first time I learned what an incredible co-worker and collaborator he was going to be.”
“The scene in the plot where I stabbed Reddington in the neck was really an incredible day. We were on the 29th floor of the Waldorf Astoria, which was just kind of larger than life, you know, an experience that felt a little like I had gone into a different paradigm or something,” she continued.
When the interviewer asked her to shed more light on her feelings and how the scene turned out, Boone confessed that she was unsure of herself. The “Bloody Valentine 3D” actress also claimed to have felt nervous and attempted to keep to herself while working hard.
She further detailed that Spader kept checking on her and showed her support, which helped her become freer and more collaborative with the team. Boone even referred to that incident as the very moment that the special bond she shares with the “Avengers: Age of Ultron” actor began forming.
Since she left the show, the actress has shared that her decision to exit came from the desire to expand her portfolio and work on other television projects.
