Popular actress Jennifer Coolidge did much more than acting after her role as “Stifler’s mom” in the 1999 “American Pie.” Since her performance in the film, the actress has gone on to star in popular films like “Legally Blonde,” “A Cinderella Story,” and a number of others.
Her most recent project is “The White Lotus.” The show gave Coolidge her most acclaimed role and awarded her an Emmy nomination as well as a pass to season two. The 60-year-old’s recent popularity also granted her several other roles in upcoming films.
In a promotional video for “The White Lotus,” Coolidge revealed that her “American Pie” role, which painted her as a “MILF,” led to her having “a lot of sexual action.” The actress said that after the part, she enjoyed the attention of around 200 people.
Jennifer Coolidge Enjoyed Massive Sexual Attention After Movie Role
Coolidge recently revealed that her 1999 role in “American Pie” gave her much more than a paycheck and popularity. The actress played the role of the mother of Sean William Scott’s character, Stifler.
One of the most famous scenes in the movie showed Coolidge’s character involved in a fling with her son’s classmate. Scenes like this led to the actress being branded the “O.G MILF.” The role put her in the spotlight and apparently multiplied her body count by a lot.
The actress appeared in an interview with Variety to promote her recent series “White Lotus.” There she recalled, “Ya know, I got a lot of play being a MILF, and I got a lot of sexual action from ‘American Pie.’ There was so many benefits to doing that movie … There would be, like, 200 people that I would never have slept with.”
Jennifer Coolidge In ‘The White Lotus’
The “Legally Blonde” actress is currently part of the Emmy award-winning “The White Lotus.” Her role as Tanya McQuoid is similar to her “Stifler’s Mom” role and earned her her first Emmy nomination. She was the only main character in the series to progress to season two.
Coolidge revealed that she initially did not want to be a part of the series; however, the show’s creator convinced her to accept the offer. She said, “Some jobs, I’m sort of going, ‘Wow, this isn’t worth working for.’ What Mike [White] wrote, I was staying up late every night.”
Coolidge continued, “I have done one thing really right in my life. I’ve picked great friends. If Mike was never successful, and we just did ‘White Lotus’ as a play in a little theater where everyone paid 10 bucks to see it, it would still be one of the greatest things that ever happened to me. Because it was a killer job that no one else thought I could do.”
‘The White Lotus’ Wasn’t Shot In One Location
“The White Lotus” was reportedly filmed in more than one location. The first season of the HBO series was filmed in Hawaii, and as a result of the pandemic, season two was shot in Italy. The show’s creator, Mike White, spoke about writing Coolidge’s part and how the actress always managed to impress him.
White said, “Whenever I’m lying in bed thinking about what I want to make Jennifer do, I know it’s something that she would not want to do. One minute, she seems fragile, like it’s all going to fall apart, and the next minute she’s sturdy and doing hilarious riffs. Just when you think all hope is lost, she knocks it out of the park.”
“The White Lotus” not only gave Coolidge her first Emmy nomination, but it also rebranded the actress and gave her the image of “den mother.” Despite her decades as an actress, the series gave her more movie roles. She said, “People that I could never get in the door — all of a sudden, they’re asking me to be part of their things.”
Jennifer Coolidge Will Be In ‘Legally Blonde 3’
Due to the success of “The White Lotus,” Coolidge will reportedly star in films like “Shotgun Wedding” along with Jennifer Lopez, “The Watcher” with Naomi Watts, and the third installment of the “Legally Blonde” franchise, “Legally Blonde 3.”
The actress talked to Variety about how different her career is now and her reluctance to look too deeply into it to avoid jinxing it. She said, “My friends are all surprised that this fluky thing happened. My life was going a certain way for a very long time. I’m afraid if I analyze it too much I’ll ruin it.”
Coolidge also talked about her upcoming role in “Legally Blonde 3,” revealing that several people had sent videos of their Fourth of July scene remake, and she couldn’t wait to give them more material. She said, “I get thousands and thousands of texts and videos of people doing the Fourth of July [scene], you know, everybody.”
The actress added, “Men, women, these TikTokers, and then lots of drag queens send me these funny videos and do these weird things with the vegan hot dogs.”
