Legendary NFL Coach Dick Vermeil Thinks Antonio Brown’s NFL Career Is Over

Legendary NFL Coach Dick Vermeil Thinks Antonio Brown’s NFL Career Is Over

Dick Vermeil is a former American football coach who served in the NFL for fifteen seasons. He coached the Philadelphia Eagles, St. Louis Rams, and Kansas City Chiefs in that order, spending seven seasons with the first, three with the second, and five with the third.

Antonio Brown is an American football player who plays the wide receiver position and is currently a free agent. He has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In a conversation with TMZ Sports, Vermeil said that Brown’s NFL career is over and that he doesn’t see another NFL team giving the former Pittsburgh player a chance to play again after what he did with the Buccaneers.

Vermeil thinks that a man is defined by whatever he can do. He explained that you can evaluate someone from what he does, and that was what Brown did. What did he do? Keep scrolling to see details.

What Happened Between Brown And The Buccaneers?

When Vermeil talked about the end of Brown’s career, he referred to the consequences of what Brown did in the middle of a match (Game-week 17) between the Buccaneers and the New York Jets.

In the middle of the game, Brown took off his jersey, shoulder pads, and gloves and headed to the locker room. It happened after a disagreement between the Floridian and the club’s coach, Bruce Arians.

Vermeil added that in his 30+ years of coaching, starting from high school to college, Division and the NFL, he has never witnessed anything like that. Brown has been like that from time, and that action answered people’s evaluation questions about him.

Vermeil said that he doesn’t see any other team in the NFL giving Brown a chance to play because it seems the player is not ready to change his ways. Other people in the NFL also commented on the issue, addressing Brown’s action in the game.

Details Of The Incident

It happened in a game in week 17 of the NFL during the third quarter of the Buccaneers’ 4 points lead against the New York Jets. Brown removed his kits and ran off the field into the locker room.

In a press conference after the game, Arians, the head coach, said that Brown is no longer a Buc. Later on, he spoke to Jay Glazer that he tried his best to get Brown back into the game, but he refused.

Arians said he tried again, but Brown didn’t yield, so he told Brown to leave. He was asked if he saw Brown when he removed his shirt; he replied affirmatively but added that he had not seen such a thing in his life before.

In the same press conference, Brady gave his opinion about what happened. He acknowledged the team’s love for him, and how hyped they are for his talents, but, sadly, he wouldn’t continue with them.

Vermeil’s Opinion About Accepting A Player Into Any Team

Regardless of the state of Brown’s career, Tampa Bay Buccaneers accepted him into the team, and Vermeil credited them for that. They helped Brown’s career get back on track by signing him last season.

Even with the kind gesture from the Buccaneers, Vermeil was certain that Brown was never going to change his ways. He added that sometimes, people feel that they are doing the right thing, but in the real sense, they are causing problems.

Vermeil also believes that people create problems for themselves by attracting people that have problems already. There are fewer chances that you can change people like that in such cases.

“Bringing in someone with a profile like Brown’s into the team is only bringing problems to yourself,” Vermeil explained. He also credited Tom Brady, Brown’s teammate, for trying to help Brown in his career.

His Personal Life

Brown is a father of six children, four sons and two daughters. His children came from three women; three sons and a daughter from Chelsie Kyriss, and the two other children from two different women.

Four years ago, he appeared on Drake’s official music video for “God’s Plan.” That same year, he was announced as the cover athlete for an American football video game, “Madden NFL 19.”

He is the cousin of Marquise Brown, the Baltimore Ravens player who was drafted into the league three years ago. The former Oakland Raider wide receiver also competed in season 22 of “Dancing With The Stars.”
