Minnesota Vikings Star Everson Griffen Waves Gun In Scary IG Video

It was certainly a wild morning for Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen. He took to social media to post a video of himself waving a gun saying that people were trying to kill him. As he was doing this he was reportedly also texting his agent. Griffen would go on to post screenshots from his conversation with his agent where he’s actively calling for help. When police showed up at Griffen’s house in Minnesota, they had a tough situation on their hands. As Griffen refused to allow them to enter and barricaded himself inside with a gun in his hands. At the time of writing this article it seems that the situation is under control. However, Griffen did scare fans and loved ones alike with his IG video!

Griffen said in the IG story that people were trying to “pop” him. He then went on to mention that he had a gun with him. He revealed the gun in the video. At this point, he explained that the gun was legally licensed to him and that he bought rounds around town. Still having a couple left in the chamber. In talking about how he had obtained the gun he even threw a Vikings‘ teammate Dalvin Cook under the bus saying,

“This is my gun … registered to me, I bought all my bullets around town, (Vikings running back) Dalvin Cook helped me purchase this gun. It all belongs to me.”

Everson Griffen’s Struggle Potentially Lasted For Hours

This “struggle” that Griffen was going through, which is reported to be linked to some type of mental health crisis, went on all through the night. He potentially dealt with the situation on his own. He had texted his agent at 2am this morning saying, “They can find me Pico said”, and then telling him “Thank you for everything Murph daddy”. Those two texts got no answer. At 3:12 am he sent out the first real help cry telling his agent to call 9-1-1. It wasn’t until around 5am though that Griffen’s agent saw all of these messages. It was potentially he who called the police to go and check on the Viking’s star.

The Vikings Have Offered A Bit of Clarity On The Situation

Both the team in an official statement and the head coach Mike Zimmer have addressed the situation. Saying that team staff had been at Griffen’s house since early morning hours. Cooperating with police to try and get him under control. The team’s official statement reads,

“Vikings representatives and the team’s mental healthy professionals have been on-site at Everson Griffen’s home since early this morning and are cooperating with law enforcement … Our only concern at this time is the safety and well-being of Everson and his family. We will have further comment at the appropriate time.”

This isn’t the first time that Everson Griffen finds himself in an odd situation. In a what may have been another mental health episode Griffen jumped out of an ambulance in which he was precisely being taken for a mental health evaluation.
