MLB pitcher Mike Clevinger, who is currently signed with the Chicago White Sox, is now being investigated by Major League Baseball over allegations of domestic violence and child abuse.
Olivia Finestead, 24, first contacted the MLB’s Department of Investigations regarding Clevinger, in the summer of 2022. Finestead is the mother of Clevinger’s 10-month-old daughter.
Mike Clevinger Allegedly Slapped Olivia Finestead
MEGAThe woman has spoken to The Athletic and MLB‘s investigators regarding allegations of “physical, verbal and emotional abuse, which she also described in her personal Instagram stories,” according to MLB. One of those incidents includes one from last June “when Finestead said Clevinger choked her and another two weeks later when she said Clevinger slapped her in a hotel room.”
Clevinger also reportedly “slapped her in a hotel room when the team was playing the Dodgers and threw used chewing tobacco on their child.”
Olivia Finestead took to Instagram to speak her truth, writing, “I hope the @MLB does what they should and puts him in required therapy maybe even a small suspensions (sic) so he can take time out to really think about why he abuses his kids and their mothers.”
After she posted, many other women have come forward, direct messaging Olivia Finestead, claiming they knew Mike Clevinger was a “psychopath” and that they have “witnessed his behavior in person.”
Others claim to have photos and videos from their time together that would “absolutely crush” Clevinger, but do not feel comfortable sharing them yet for his kids sake.
White Sox Issue Statement
MEGAAs Mike Clevinger is now being investigated by the Major League Baseball association, the Chicago White Sox issued a statement, saying they did not know about these accusations when they signed him in December on a one-year, $12 million dollar free-agent deal.
The full statement from the Chicago White Sox reads:
“Major League Baseball and the Chicago White Sox take any and all allegations very seriously, and the White Sox are completely supportive of the Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse policy shared by MLB and the MLBPA. MLB opened an investigation after learning of these allegations. The White Sox were not aware of the allegations or the investigation at the time of his signing. The White Sox will refrain from comment until MLB’s investigative process has reached its conclusion.”
Mike Clevinger’s Lawyers Speak Out
MEGAThe MLB pitcher’s lawyers have also released a statement to The Atlantic, saying Clevinger “emphatically denies” the domestic violence and child abuse allegations.
“He has never harmed Ms. Finestead or his daughter. We will not comment on Ms. Finestead’s motive for bringing these false allegations,” the statement reads before adding, “Her baseless threats and accusations over the last few months have regrettably escalated, culminating most recently in deeply disturbing threats toward Mike and Mike’s family. Her threats and her pattern of abusive behavior are well documented. The simple truth is that Mike has done nothing wrong.”
