The singer-songwriter’s fans, who have been agitated since his ex-fiancée Avril Lavigne confirmed her romance with Tyga, finally got a chance to show their displeasure. To that end, they threw profanity-filled chants at the “Ayy Macarena” hitmaker during Sun’s New York City show on Wednesday night.

Although Lavigne seems happy with her new beau, Sun’s fans are less than thrilled about the circumstances that led to her dating Tyga. So, when an opportunity came for them to give the “Rack City” rapper a piece of their mind, they did not miss it.

The drama began after rapper Travie McCoy got onstage during Mod’s Wednesday night show at Irving Plaza to perform. However, before he and his group — Gym Class Heroes — could start belting out their 2005 hit, “Cupid’s Chokehold,” the former lead vocalist called Sun one of the “most loyal dudes” he knows.

The 41-year-old musician rounded off his speech by yelling, “F**k Tyga!” shocking Sun, who promptly ran from the platform to the back of the stage while the crowd began chanting the expletive at Tyga, per TMZ.

Even though the “Flames” singer did not directly join the mob action, it is safe to assume he feels the same way. Fans would recall that a previous report by The Blast noted that the 36-year-old celebrity has been nursing his broken heart since Lavigne dumped him last month.

In fact, things took a worse turn for him emotionally after he saw the pictures of his ex and her new flame packing on the PDA during the Paris Fashion Week. As it turned out, the location is the same place he proposed to Lavigne almost a year ago, indicating to Sun that she did not cherish their memories as well as he did.

“As if being blindsided by the abrupt end to their engagement wasn’t bad enough, he feels absolutely devastated by her budding romance with Tyga,” one insider claimed. Speaking on the breakup himself, Sun shared multiple snaps from his concerts alongside a caption that began:

“In 1 week my entire life completely changed…I just know there’s a plan for it all. I’ll keep my head up + always listen to my heart, even when it feels broken.” 

The “Cooking on High” star added that it was an “absolute blessing” for him to be “surrounded by love every night on tour” while having the “best friends in the entire world.”

His message was met with a flood of comments from fans, who reminded him of other challenges he had overcome during his music career. The post has accrued over 52k likes— and counting — since he shared it on February 28.

During Sun and Lavigne’s two-year relationship, the pair was always vocal about their feelings, especially the former. The “Measure of Revenge” actor had gushed about the “Sk8ter Boi” singer just a few days before she surprised him with the breakup. The Blast reported that he had stated at the time:

“I have found such a partner in this world to go through the chaos that life gives you. I have found that person. I’m with a real grown woman who has gone through it all ten times over, and she makes me a better person.”

Unfortunately, Lavigne was no longer feeling the connection, even though she and her ex were on good terms in the days leading up to the split. One source claimed, “They were together and engaged as of three days ago when he left for tour, so if anything has changed, that’s news to him.”

While nobody has stated the reason behind the breakup, it is worth noting that neither party was caught cheating. Sources close to the now-former lovebirds also clarified that although the split was not mutual, they had tried to keep the romance alive. 

The duo had more recently been going “on and off” and paused their plans to spend the rest of their lives together. The breakup news came on the heels of Lavigne enjoying dinner with Tyga and a few friends at the famous NOBU restaurant.
