Rihanna expected to throw this year’s hottest Met Gala afterparty

Rihanna’s Met Gala 2021 afterparty is expected to be the hottest bash of the night. In fact, we’re told some fashion insiders have been literally begging for a spot on the guest list and it’s causing chaos around town as other party planners struggle to compete.

We’re told her annual event is being put together by nightlife mogul Richie Akiva and will be thrown at a currently unidentified location.

Sources tell us that the mystery venue is adding an air of exclusivity to the fête. And that, coupled with the fact that the fashion world is party-deprived after its biggest night was canceled last year by the COVID-19 pandemic, is leaving some “begging” to get in, we’re told.

We hear a certain billionaire was even scrambling to get an invite on Monday.

And another source tells us other parties are having trouble booking musicians because artists don’t want to miss the chance to hang at Rihanna’s soiree.

“One promoter was putting tens of thousands on the table in offers,” says the insider. “But everyone turned it down just to be at Rihanna’s party.”

In addition to Rihanna’s party, Akiva opened the doors to his club 1 Oak on Sunday for an afterparty for the 2021 MTV VMAs hosted by Doja Cat and Interview magazine. Madonna, Kendall Jenner, Kid Cudi, Chance the Rapper, Shawn Mendes, and French Montana attended. Lil Nas X, who put on a killer performance during the awards show, was photographed being carried out by his bodyguards at the end of the night.

The Met Gala is returning this year with the theme “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” and a vaccine requirement. Page Six exclusively reported that both Timothée Chalamet and poet Amanda Gorman will act as co-chairs at the 2021 event. They will be joined by singer Billie Eilish and tennis star Naomi Osaka.
