Model Paulina Porizkova is having a blast on her vacation and enjoying some new experiences.
One of those included taking a picture with giant butterfly wings in the background. Although the “No Filter: The Good, The Bad, and The Beautiful” author first admitted that she was trying to pose as an angel, it brought to mind a time when she once grew wings herself during an intense hypnosis session.

In a recent Instagram post, Paulina declared, “It turns out I AM a space butterfly” while sharing a photo that featured her posing in a light pink dress in front of giant blue butterfly wings.
Paulina and Czech-American writer Martina Forman are currently on vacation in a “tropical paradise” for a week to unwind when the photo was taken. “When Martina took this photo last night, I was doing an angel impression. But looking at it now, I see a space butterfly,” Paulina wrote.
Instagram | Paulina Porizkova“And a memory comes back to me from a few years ago, when I was drowning in a stormy dark ocean and grasping at straws to keep me afloat. One of the many things I did that year to keep swimming was a therapeutic hypnosis session,” she explained. “The hypnotherapist coached me into relaxation with breathing and the imagery of walking downstairs, and then he said : open the door.”
“I found myself falling through space. I was a little seed, a little live organism in a cold and vast universe. I could see galaxies twinkling in the distance, and I was utterly, complete alone. And so cold,” she continued. “I cried. I cried because I was so lonely and so cold and of no significance to anyone or anything. I was an only dust mite in a vacuum.”
Instagram | Paulina Porizkova“As I sobbed and described what was happening to me, the therapist stopped me. ‘You can do anything. It’s YOUR dream, your space. You can change it to whatever you want.’ And suddenly, I felt an eager kind of a pushing behind my shoulder blades, and when I turned to look, I saw I had sprouted these enormous translucent wings with blue and purple swirls, laced with black,” Paulina explained.
“I was still in a vast dark space, still alone, still cold, but I had these enormous wings that gave me control of my direction,” she wrote. “I was still afraid. I didn’t know where to go. But I knew my direction was up to me. I was no longer a speck of dust tumbling around in infinity, I was a space butterfly.”

Many fans loved Paulina’s story. “What a great therapist! For me, it’s easy to be swept away by my feelings and forget my own power. I want to grow wings too!” one fan commented. Paulina replied, “We all have them.”
