Celebrated poet Rachel Rabbit White is hosting a party Tuesday night to welcome her husband, the bank-robber-turned-author Nico Walker, to New York City.
The literary pair married in 2021 but Walker hasn’t been able to live in the Big Apple with his bride because he’s on probation for knocking off 11 banks in four months from 2010 into 2011.
But Page Six hears that the “Cherry” author has finally been given the go-ahead to relocate from Mississippi and White is throwing the celebratory bash at a Downtown haunt. We’re told the lovebirds are thrilled to finally be able to live together full-time.
According to Vogue, the pair met online while Walker was living in a halfway house after his release from prison in October 2019.
The pair married in 2021, but Walker hasn’t been able to move to New York because of his parole.rachelrabbitwhite/Instagram“The two started talking over email — Walker reached out to White about her writing — then FaceTime and eventually met in person in March 2020. On June 12, 2021, they eloped in Biloxi, Mississippi, partially because of COVID and because Walker is legally unable to leave the state except for work,” said the style bible.
They had a second wedding in New York City, but Walker had to return to the South per his parole.
White has been splitting her time between Oxford, Mississippi, where Walker has been based, and New York City where she has been writing, hosting chic parties and pioneering femininity “as an extreme sport,” as she told Page Six last year.
White has been living between Mississippi and New York since their marriage.rachelabbitwhite/InstagramWe hear this will be the first time that Walker, who reportedly grew up in Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Cleveland, will have lived in New York.
Walker served as a medic in the army in Iraq from 2005 until 2006 and suffered PTSD after returning to the US. He developed an opioid habit, and reportedly committed the robberies to fund it.
“Cherry,” which he wrote in prison, was made into an Apple+ movie starring Tom Holland in 2021. The book was a New York Times bestseller and was shortlisted for the Hemingway Foundation/PEN Award in 2019.
