Rich Homie Quan’s family is paying tribute to the late rapper following his sudden death at the age of 33.

“On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Lamar family lost our beloved son, brother, father and friend,” the musician’s loved ones told People in a statement Monday.

“Known to the world as Rich Homie Quan, Dequantes Devontay Lamar was a proud native of the great city of Atlanta, Georgia, and represented for the A as he and his music traveled across this globe.”

The statement continued, “While he leaves us with an undeniable hole in our hearts, we are comforted by knowing his music and triumphant spirit lives on. Quan’s legacy will forever be cemented as a soundtrack to our lives.”

Though heartbroken, the Lamar family is “grateful.”

The “Lifestyle” hitmaker’s loved ones told the outlet they will be sharing “celebration of life details” soon and thanked “everyone” for their “kind words and support at this difficult time.”

A spokesperson for the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office previously confirmed Quan’s passing to Page Six, saying that Grady Memorial Hospital had notified them of the news.

The spokesperson also told us an autopsy was scheduled for last Friday.

The hip-hop star’s loved ones added, “While he leaves us with an undeniable hole in our hearts, we are comforted by knowing his music and triumphant spirit lives on. Fellow rapper Boosie BadAzz — born Torrence Ivy Hatch Jr. — was one of the first people to reveal Quan’s death, claiming via X that his pal had suffered an overdose.

Though Quan’s official cause of death remains pending investigation, details surrounding the hip-hop star’s passing have been revealed via his girlfriend Amber Williams’ 911 call on the day he died.

TMZ obtained audio of the call, in which Williams can be heard telling an operator, “I need an ambulance.”

“My boyfriend — he’s been asleep on the couch [in the living room] since this morning,” Williams explained. “Well, he never came to bed last night.”

Williams said she “left him on the couch” as she took her son to school that morning, making sure to “put a blanket over” the “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” artist before she left.

Williams said she returned to find that he “never got up.”

“I don’t feel a heartbeat. I don’t see him breathing,” she explained, adding that when she “turned him over,” she noticed he “foamed at the mouth.”

When Williams was instructed to “lay him flat on his back on the floor” with nothing “under his head,” she exclaimed, “He is not waking up.”

Two days later, she took to her Instagram Story to describe the “unbearable” pain of losing her “other half.”

“Our house is no longer a home. I’m completely heartbroken,” she wrote in part. “15 years gone. I’ll never be the same. This is a complete nightmare.”

Quan — a father of five — shared two children with Williams.

Just two days before his death, he posted a pensive photo of himself on Instagram with the caption, “Vision clear even through the BS ????.”
