“Only Murders in the Building” actress Selena Gomez is tired of tucking her stomach in. The actress is currently on vacation with her friends and is making her stance on unattainable body standards known.

Gomez previously talked about her struggle to “stay skinny” and how she gave up on it because her body would always be criticized. She also spoke about her various health issues and how the medications affected her weight, making it fluctuate from time to time.


The “Another Cinderella Story” actress recently revealed that she had no intention of hiding her beach body or contorting it to look a certain way. She posted a TikTok video in her swimsuit, which said as much.

Gomez is currently vacationing in Italy with film producer Andrea Iervolino and can’t be bothered about unnecessary body standards. The actress posted a video on Wednesday, showing herself lounging under the sun in a blue one-piece swimwear.


During the video, the singer is seen lip-syncing to a statement made by Tasha K, a popular YouTuber. While patting her stomach, Gomez said, “I’m not sucking sh-t in. Real stomachs is coming the f–k back, OK.”



The “Rare” singer has spoken up about body image previously and her struggle with staying a certain size. In an earlier TikTok, Gomez said, “So I be trying to stay skinny, but I went to Jack in the Box, and I got four tacos, three egg rolls, onion rings, and a spicy chicken sandwich.”


She added that people always talked about her weight, so she stopped caring about it. She said, “Meh, meh, meh. Bi***, I am perfect the way I am. Moral of the story? Bye.”

In 2019, the Disney alum revealed that after her lupus diagnosis and subsequent emergency kidney transplant, she started struggling with her body image. The medication the chronic autoimmune disease required reportedly made her weight fluctuate depending on what was happening in her life.


While on the “Giving Back Generation” podcast with Raquelle Stevens, the 30-year-old revealed that people started criticizing her weight which got to her “big time.” She added that regardless of how she felt, “that’s just my truth.”


In a 2021 Vogue interview, Gomez was shown a picture of herself from the 2015 Met Gala and admitted that she did not feel confident at the time because of the weight fluctuations but managed to find a flattering dress. “I fluctuate a lot with my weight. And I remember this night; specifically, I didn’t feel good about my body, the actress recalled. “So what was really amazing was that I actually got a chance to work on the dress that fit my body.”

In an interview in 2015, Gomez admitted that after receiving a lot of hate concerning her body and weight gain, she put everything she was feeling about her body and the hateful comments into “Revival,” her sophomore album.


Gomez listed some specific songs in the album she wrote while dealing with cyberbullying at the time. She recalled,
“I was Getting a lot of heat for my body and ‘you’re gaining weight’ [commentary], and so I was in Mexico, and I was just feeling all this stuff, and I would be lying to you if I said it didn’t kind of hurt my feelings, but I kind of channeled that into music.”


Gomez listed “Rise,” “Survivors,” and “Kill ‘Em With Kindness” as the songs she wrote to deal with her emotions. She added that she thought the songs were some of the best decisions in her entire career. The artist added, “It’s all geared towards me trying to be heard.”

Gomez and film producer Iervolino were spotted together in Positano, Italy. Some friends joined the duo while they were together on a yacht enjoying their vacation. The Disney alum and Iervolino have reportedly known each other for years.


The producer was a part of one of her movies, “In Dubious Battle,” which was released in 2016. Other stars in the project include Nat Wolff and James Franco. Iervolino has produced more than 70 movies like “Puffins” and “Survivor.”


Besides their work relationship, Iervolino was invited to the actress’s 27th birthday celebration. The duo also have mutual friends, one of which is David Henrietta, who was Gomez’s co-star in “Wizards of Waverly Places.
