‘Sex and the City’ costume guru Patricia Field on her favorite finds

Retailers have Emmy-winning “Sex and the City” costume designer Patricia Field to thank for the droves of women who rushed to buy tutus, slip dresses, nameplate necklaces and (for those with enough credit) closets full of Manolos in the early aughts. The wardrobe mastermind behind “Ugly Betty” and “Younger” is setting trends all over again with the Netflix hit “Emily in Paris.” Case in point? After star Lily Collins wore a bucket hat on the show, the shopping app Lyst reported a 342 percent increase in searches for similar looks. We’ll have to wait until the show’s Season 2 premiere on Dec. 22 to see what craze Field, 79, will ignite next. Until then, here’s the eye candy that’s inspiring the Academy Award-nominated style icon now.

“When I look at Lily Collins [above], I see Audrey Hepburn! So I tried to bring that through in the first season. As the show progresses, [her character] Emily adapts to the Parisian style, but with her American twist — which to me means with more color.”
