Squid Game creator Hwang-Dong-hyuk addressed LeBron James’ comments regarding the finale of his widely popular Netflix show in a profile for The Guardian

“Have you seen Space Jam 2?,” he jokingly asked. “LeBron James is cool and can say what he wants. I respect that. I’m very thankful he watched the whole series. But I wouldn’t change my ending. That’s my ending. If he has his own ending that would satisfy him, maybe he could make his own sequel. I’ll check it out and maybe send him a message saying, ‘I liked your whole show, except the ending.’”

Hwang’s remarks come after James spoke about his gripe with the last few moments in Squid Game with Los Angeles Lakers teammate Anthony Davis following a post-game press conference.

LeBron didn’t like that Seong Gi-hun chose to presumably return to game (or try to expose it), instead of boarding a flight to see his daughter in the United States. “I didn’t like the ending, though,” he told Davis. “I know they’ll start it off with a Season 2 but, like, get on the fucking flight and go see your daughter, bro. Like what are you doing?”

Seong had already walked away with 46.5 billion won, or nearly $39 million USD, slightly less than what James makes in the 2021-22 season.
