Sydney Sweeney recently revealed in an interview with Variety that her breakthrough role in “Euphoria” presented some unexpected challenges regarding landing a part in “The White Lotus.”

According to Sweeney, casting directors associate her with the privileged and spoiled characters she portrayed in “Euphoria” as Cassie Howard and “In the White Lotus” as Olivia Mossbacher.

As a result, it was challenging for her to audition for roles that deviated from these familiar character types. She said, “There are always people who see me as Cassie or see me as Olivia. They send me scripts that are just like that.”

However, Sweeney remains determined to pursue diverse and distinctive roles. She emphasized, “It’s the ones I have to fight for that usually are the ones that I want that are different, like “Reality.” I had to audition for it. I had to put myself on tape and send in my audition just like everybody else.”

In her conversation with Variety, Sweeney shared her experiences, saying, “It was the same for ‘White Lotus.’ They didn’t think I was right for ‘White Lotus’ because I did ‘Euphoria.’ So I put myself on tape, auditioned for ‘White Lotus’ just like everybody else, and had a call back like everybody else.”

“I could get offered roles that are similar to the ones that I’ve played, but the ones that are different, the ones that surprise people that I do, are the ones that I usually have to fight for,” she explained.

Following the successful launch of the initial season of “Euphoria” in 2019, Sweeney’s career has flourished with many exciting projects.

She has landed a coveted role alongside Dakota Johnson in the much-anticipated Sony Marvel film “Madame Web.” Additionally, Sweeney teamed up with the talented Glen Powell for a charming romantic comedy titled “Anyone But You.”

I was able to find all the different layers underneath it. I truly enjoyed it.”

The 25-year-old star revealed that her introduction to Winner came through the film’s director, Tina Satter. Following this connection, Sweeney and Winner engaged in extensive and candid conversations that delved deep into the facets of Winner’s life.

“We Zoomed for a couple of hours. She was kind enough just to let me ask a bunch of life questions and get to know her, get to know her relationships and family and her experience with the FBI interrogation,” she said.

Max’s upcoming film, aptly titled “Reality,” breathes life into the gripping narrative of the intelligence specialist who faced severe repercussions for leaking classified information concerning Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

Sweeney emphasized that the movie captures a pivotal moment in Winner’s life, presenting a true-to-life depiction of the events that unfolded, stating, “We’re just showing a moment in a woman’s life. It’s truly just what happens, verbatim.”

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last year, Sweeney talked about her financial challenges as an actor, despite her success in the industry. The 25-year-old actress shared her inability to afford a six-month break from acting due to the significant costs associated with her career.

“If I wanted to take a six-month break, I don’t have income to cover that. I don’t have someone supporting me, I don’t have anyone I can turn to to pay my bills or call for help,” Sweeney disclosed, per Insider.

She also said, “They don’t pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals.” Breaking down how her income dwindles, Sweeney added, “The established stars still get paid, but I have to give 5 percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, 3 percent or something like that to my business manager. I have to pay my publicist every month, and that’s more than my mortgage.”
