Teddi Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave discussed divorce for years before officially splitting: ‘Long time coming’

Teddi Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave’s divorce was reportedly “a long time coming.”

An insider told Us Weekly Wednesday that the pair had “been up and down for the last seven-plus years” before finally deciding to pull the plug.

“This isn’t the first time Teddi has wanted a divorce, and it has been an ongoing conversation between them for years,” a source close to the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum told the outlet.

Arroyave, 47, and Mellencamp, 43, reportedly tried to work out their issues in therapy after experiencing “some really high highs and low lows over the course of their marriage.”

However, they ultimately “agreed they are better as co-parents and can be amicable moving forward.”

On Saturday, Mellencamp announced she had made the “difficult decision to file for divorce” after 13 years of marriage.

“My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do, but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors, I felt being open, honest and vulnerable was the best path forward.”

Mellencamp filed to end their marriage Friday, listing their date of separation as Oct. 20 — despite packing on the PDA with Arroyave at a charity event on Oct. 24.

Although she requested primary legal and physical custody of their three children — daughter Slate, 12, son Cruz, 10, and daughter Dove, 4 — the reality star wants her ex to have “reasonable and frequent” visitation.

The Bravolebrity cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split and plans to keep the details close to the chest.

During Tuesday’s episode of her podcast with Tamra Judge, “Two Ts in a Pod,” the mother of three told listeners she does “not want” her marital woes to “blow up” in the media.

“At this point, I’m obviously only going to share what I shared on social media, and I just am trying — I don’t even know how to say this eloquently — but I am just trying my hardest to make sure that my kids’ privacy is protected right now,” she said.

Mellencamp explained that the only reason she even announced their divorce was because the public filing would have been unearthed regardless.

However, she and Arroyave were spotted packing on the PDA at a charity gala on Oct. 24. Instagram/edwinarroyaveofficial Arroyave has yet to publicly address their divorce. Instagram/@teddimellencamp

“When your name is recognizable and you file in the court system, it becomes public,” she explained, noting that she is “doing alright” and just wants to protect her children.

“I know that I am going to keep working on feeling my best so that I can show up the best for my kids and my life and my work, and yeah, I mean, I think that’s the biggest thing for me right now,” she said.

Although Arroyave has yet to address their split, he shared a series ofphotos of their kids and a cryptic quote about “dark days.”
