The 44-year-old spent 20 seasons and won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots before joining the Buccaneers in 2020 for the season. After which, he promptly won his seventh Super Bowl. Brady has more than held his own in terms of passing yards, pass completions, and touchdowns.

Following the announcement to join Fox, Brady revealed that while he was excited to take up the role, he had some “unfinished business” on the field.

Brady is set to go into another field in the sports industry post-retirement. On Tuesday, Fox Sports confirmed that the Super Bowl legend would join the broadcasting crew of the sports network after the end of his NFL career.

The CEO and Executive Chair of Fox Corporation, Lachlan Murdoch, released a statement that read, “We are pleased to announce that immediately following his playing career, 7-time Super Bowl Champion @tombrady will be joining us; at @foxsports as our lead analyst.”

“Over the course of this long-term agreement, Tom will not only call our biggest NFL games with Kevin Burkhardt but will also serve as an ambassador for us, particularly with respect to respect to client and promotional initiatives,” it continued.

The CEO revealed that the team were happy to have Brady and then proceeded to wish the all-star good luck in the upcoming season. The NFL star tweeted that he was excited to embark on the new journey but added that he had “a lot of unfinished business on the field with the @Buccaneers #LFG.”

According to NYP, the Fox gig is a mouth watering $375 million 10 year deal.

Tom Brady Previously Announced His Retirement

Brady is currently facing his 23rd season in the NFL despite announcing his retirement previously. In February, the 44-year-old disclosed his intention to leave the NFL; however, a month later, he mentioned his desire to come back to the field to his fans.

Brady said, “These past two months, I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible.”

While talking to People, the NFL star admitted that coming back after announcing his retirement would be a “big commitment,” but he was willing to do it. Brady said, “I just felt like there was still a lot of competitiveness—for me to want to engage with my teammates, to give it another shot.”

Brady Was Fielded With Broadcasting Jobs After Retirement Announcement

According to People, a source revealed that the NFL player was fielding broadcasting jobs. He was also working on his Brady apparel brand, his production company 199 productions, his NFT platform Autograph, and his fitness and wellness brand TB12 at the time.

The source said, “There are a lot of projects in the works. He also has crazy offers from networks who want him to be a broadcaster.” They also noted that the 44-year-old’s agent, Jason Hodes, got several opportunities for him, “ranging from broadcast and streaming offers to publishing and brand deals.”

“Tom wasn’t focused on broadcasting at all, but he’s getting so many offers, and they’re projecting these huge salaries,” the insider continued.

Sports Channels Regularly Recruit Players

The practice of luring athletes to take up broadcasting positions is quite popular. Due to this, several players have successfully transitioned to the broadcast booth after their retirement, sometimes even before they’re done with their careers.

One of such players is the former New Orleans Saints quarterback, Drew Brees. The NFL star signed a broadcasting contract with NBC before retiring. On the other hand, former Carolina Panthers Greg Olsen announced his deal with Fox last year when he announced his retirement.

Fox and CBS don’t seem to have trouble recruiting players. Both networks televise around 13 games combined every NFL Sunday. They also have different announcing crews covering the various games as they happen in different locations.
