Tampere has a laid-back atmosphere, with countless theatres, vintage shops and eateries specialising in local, seasonal cuisine (think creamy salmon soup, freshly baked rye bread and blood sausages with lingonberry jam). The city transforms with every season, but spring (following the freezing cold winter months) is particularly special. Pink scotch heather, buttercups and daisies dance over the glistening green grass, with mild temperatures making it the ideal location for lake swimming, barbecues and foraging in national parks.
